Warner Bros. has announced that its upcoming animated take on The Cat in the Hat will claw its way into theaters on March 6, 2026. Bill Hader (IT: Chapter Two) has been attached to star for some time now, and the voice cast just expanded with some impressive names.

Those include Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Bowen Yang (SNL), Xochitl Gomez (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), Matt Berry (What We Do in The Shadows), and Paula Pell (Girls5eva).

The Cat in the Hat is being written and directed by Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja, with Daniela Mazzucato and Jared Stern producing. Susan Brandt and Hader will executive produce.

We don't have many plot details at this early stage, but The Hollywood Reporter (via Toonado.com) reveals that it "centres on the fanciful feline as he tries to cheer up a pair of siblings struggling to adapt to their new town."

Warner Bros. Animation and Dr. Seuss Enterprises are developing the project with DNEG Animation serving as the former's animation studio partner.

"We are overjoyed to partner with our friends at Dr. Seuss to take audiences of all ages on an adventure into the beloved world of The Cat in the Hat," says Warner Bros. Animation president Bill Damaschke. "With this incredible voice cast led by Bill Hader as the fun-loving, agent of chaos himself and our filmmakers Alessandro and Erica at the helm, we look forward to sharing this Seussian cinematic spectacle with audiences everywhere in 2026."

Brandt adds, "We are excited to see such an exceptional group of talent join the effort to bring this iconic property to the screen as an animated feature."

This won't be the first time The Cat in the Hat has graced the big screen (Mike Myers played a live-action version in 2003), but it is the character's first animated adventure in theaters.

The movie is also the first in a slate of animated projects that Warner Animation and Dr. Seuss Enterprises are developing together.

The Cat in the Hat is a beloved children's book written by Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel), first published in 1957. The story follows the mischievous Cat in the Hat, who shows up at the home of two bored children, Sally and her brother. With his tall striped hat and red bow tie, the Cat in the Hat brings chaos and excitement to their rainy day.

Are you excited to see the Cat in the Hat back on the big screen?

Kidding aside , Hader’s a good choice for the role and I like the rest of the cast aswell!!.

Not gonna lie , I know it’s critically panned but as a kid I enjoyed the Mike Myers live action version and watched it multiple times (don’t judge me lol).

@TheVisionary25 - I watch it for the first time last year on a Double Feature with Jim Carrey's Grinch (which I already knew) and I have to say, The Cat in the Hat was way more fun than the Grinch

@luckypenny - yeah

The Grinch was fun but I always ended up watching The Cat in the Hat more.

@TheVisionary25 - I only watched it once as little with some friends and thought it was fun and ok. We were kids so we wouldn't know a thing about critics, but we enjoyed it for what it was: entertainment.

This one has so far a solid casting and with animation the sky is the limit.
