Last year, Ant-Man and The Wasp actor Laurence Fishburne mentioned another Marvel project that he was involved in, and it looks like we now know what he was teasing.

Deadline reports that Disney Channels Worldwide has a Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur animated series in the works from black-ish and grown-ish executive producers Laurence Fishburne and Helen Sugland. The show will "follow the adventures of nine-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette, an African-American girl who teams up with her crimson-colored dinosaur and uses her smarts to save the day."

For now, it's unclear if the series will air on Disney Channel, Disney XD or Disney Junior.

I'm not familiar with this comic but it sounds like a great premise for a kids' show. Any Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur fans among us? Drop us a comment in the usual place.

I’ve been meaning to get to this series out of sheer curiosity, any word on if it’s any good??

Yeah, why not? It's probably hte best medium for this property, it should translate really well to animation.

This obviously won't be in the MCU right? It'll be in the current Marvel Animated universe?

@Nightwing1015 - god I hope not. just Big Hero 6-it. a premise like this would benefit from a "bouncier" animation style than the stiff art from Avengers Assemble or Guardians of the Galaxy

"the adventures of nine-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette, an African-American girl who teams up with her crimson-colored dinosaur and uses her smarts to save the day."

I'm curious, how is the African-American part relevant to her backstory? Like, why play up in the synopsis something that you'd be able to see in the way the character looks? It's as if every show with a white female protagonist went "it follows the adventures of a Caucasian 19 yer-old-girl"...

@Franshu - Yeah! And why clarify that she is a girl, it should just say person! And who cares what color the dinosaur is, we’re all just dinosaurs!

@TheUnworthyThor - I think the point he's making is that they don't introduce Spider-Man movies with: it follows a white teenage 15-year-old.

But the reason it happens here is because they're clearly committed to emphasising the show's representation, which is a good thing.

I love Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. I wish they would get a Disney movie like Big Hero 6 but this will suffice.

@AllHailMegatron - Who knows? If it's successful enough might convince Disney.

A cute show for kids!? How dare you Disney! I can’t believe you have sunken this low.

Wretched character, had the displeasure of reading her in one of my comics.
Damn you Ronsenberg...and that mediocre Return of Jean Grey.

Kind of hope this falls in a separate, animated Disney/Marvel universe. Just small references between this show and Big Hero 6, maybe introduce Power Pack too

this sucks so much, a power pack series would be way better

@2pacman - Agreed, but Disney would rather sell to WB right now rather than have a show about four white kids.

@2pacman - Idk bout saying this sucks but the pack has been done dirty.

I've enjoyed the series for the most part. I wasn't fond of them just killing off Moonboy to make it happen though along with the super forced nature of making her "the smartest person in the Marvel Universe".

Other than that it does have the makings for a fun animated show if done.

It's a nice take on the original Moon Boy and Devil Dinosaur by Jack Kirby!
