Around fall last year, it was confirmed that one of Disney/Pixar's most beloved films, Monsters Inc, was getting a sequel, slated for a November 2012 release. Shortly afterwards, rumors spread that it was actually a prequel with the plot of Sully and Mike, the first film's protagonists, meeting in Monsters University and developing their friendship. Those rumors haven't been confronted...until now.

Recently at CinemaCon, Disney executive vice president Dave Hollis confirmed the rumors that it will be a prequel, and it would be titled 'Monsters University'.

“The film is a prequel that tells you a little bit about how [Mike and Sully] first met, attending Monsters University,” Hollis told theater owners gathered in Las Vegas on Tuesday for their annual CinemaCon convention. “Obviously everybody knows at this point Mike and Sully are amazing friends — the best of friends — but as it turns out, in this story, that wasn’t always the case. From the moment they met at university, they could not stand each other. This story takes you through the ups and downs, and how they overcame their own differences.”

Hollis also confirmed that the voice actors for Mike and Sully, Billy Crystal and John Goodman, will return to voice the beloved characters.

So what do y'all think? Should it have just been a sequel continuing where the first movie left off, or is a prequel a good idea? Anyways, Monsters University is slated for release in early November 2012!

OK first of all, I was completely against a pointless Monsters Inc sequel & a Cars sequel (even though I love the original Monsters Inc & Cars)

Im still against the Cars sequel with every trailer I see, it looks terribly pointless

But then I see with this article title, Monsters Inc is going to be a prequel. My hopes went up, maybe the movie wont be pointless

But then my hopes fell again, Sully & Mike in university?! WTF? I will wait & see what it will be like but Im not getting my hopes up

Where the hell is Pixar's original movies, stupid Disney & their constant need to make movies that sell toys

And Im going to ask my usual question I ask on every Pixar related article:

WHERE THE HELL IS THE INCREDIBLES SEQUEL?

An Incredibles trilogy could be as amazing as the brilliant Toy Story trilogy

Please, Pixar, more original movies like Wall-E or Up & as I have said above, if you have to make sequels, an Incredibles sequel please!
