Now this is the way to remake a show. It captures the feel of the original, with great animation and fights. Lion-O is the only character I think gone wrong.

I'm impressed with the darker tone and seeing Lion-o's father in action was awesome! A+ on this series!

Such a great show. I'm seeing Avatar: The Last Airbender quality if they keep up the good work.

Why is Lion-O acting like such a jerk with the twins? He seemed compassionate in the first episode, what a strange change of character.

Well, by all accounts it sounds like the quality is there and people like it. But I can't stand that generic anime look, especially their faces. And what's up with Lion-O and that Tekken spiked hair? Anime needs to mix it up a bit. The same old crap since Astroboy is getting old!

yeah why is he being a dick to the wilytwins?? youd think he would try and help the only other cat survivors seeing as they probably want to keep the species going eventually and another girl (eventually woman) would make that a hell of alot easier

With this and Young Justice... Cartoon Network could start to bring back Toonami. And GL:TAS.

ComicsCommando - 8/4/2011, 10:02 AM
RobinNumbah6@ Exactly, I thought that he would take in the twins because they were also surviving cats and he was trying to save whoever lived after the attack. He was compassionate towards the Lizards in the first episode, and they ended up helping him out. Just seems out of character to me for him to suddenly change like that.

Moakynubs@ Cartoon Network is most likely putting YJ and GL:TAS on their DC Nation Block that they have planned for 2012.

I don't see how anyone can defend the original. I was a HUGE Thundercats fan as a kid, loved it so much. Had all the toys. When they started re-airing it on Toonami ages ago, I was like "Wow, this show is shit." New one looks good, I have the first 2 episodes on the computer, haven't watched it yet, but even the preview for the show looked leagues above the original.

On character designs for this series is pretty hit or miss. Snarf and the Twins look absolutely adorable, the softer anime style suits them while I'm not a fan of Lion-O's at all. The rest look okay, not better or particularly worse but okay.

That's really my only criticism about this series because everything else is fantastic so far. Great first episode, definitely left me itching for more.

@Moakynubs: That had crossed my mind too while watching this. I miss Toonami. ;_;

I saw it and it's freaking awesome!!!! I love the way they've revamped the show and the world.
My lit of 80' remakes:
Thundercats 2011
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2002 (including Fast Forward, and Back to the Sewers)
Masters of the Universe 2002

I haven't seen Voltron Force yet.

I liked it more than I thought I would. It has a Last Airbender feel to it. The writing for this series seems solid. I can't wait to see Panthero and you know that they will hold out for that since he is the tech guru of the bunch.

I liked the original art style of Thundercats and especially the original Lion-O. Why Lion-O must look like a teenager anyway?

Has any one noticed that the show is actually a sequel? They're already on Third Earth, the city is Thundara, and they speak of legends where the first Thunder Cats on Third Earth fought Mumm-ra (who, I agree with @teabag, is not creepy enough). All of of these stories are in the Book of Omens, which was found in the original show, but is lost once again in this one. The technology is the thing I don't understand, the original Cat's Lair was full of it, as was the Thunder Tank. Perhaps over time, the Thunder Cats stopped relying on it?

Gutts81 - 8/4/2011, 1:41 PM
Anyone that thinks this is a prequel or reboot is just.....stupid. If you watch the show and pay attention it clearly states that it is a continuation of the original T-cats. Thundara was the home-world and now they reside on 3rd-earth the new home world. It is many years after the old T-cats not before. Not a reboot. And because of this one little thing. It makes this shoe fantastic so far.
