Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros.' upcoming animated Scooby-Doo feature, tentatively titled S.C.O.O.B., has rounded out its star cast with Zac Efron (Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile) and Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again)

They join a cast that will feature the voice talents of Frank Welker (Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!) as the titular Great Dane, Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth) as Shaggy Rogers, Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) as Velma Dinkley, and Tracy Morgan (30 Rock) as Captain Caveman.

While plot details are being kept under wraps, the story will reportedly see the fan-favorite Mystery Inc. gang join forces with other heroes of the Hanna-Barbera universe to save the world from Dick Dastardly and his latest evil plot.

Tony Cervone (Scooby-Doo! And Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery) is directing the animated feature with Chris Columbus, Pam Coats, and Allison Abbate on board as producers and Charles Roven, Richard Suckle, Dan Povenmire, and Adam Sztykiel attached as executive producers.

The film is set to open May 15, 2020.

@CowboyNation214 - they did, it was bad. All of the live action cartoon movies were made, and they all were bad. Chipmunks. Woody Woodpecker. Smurfs. He-Man. Transformers. GI Joe. Jem and the Holograms. Fat Albert. Yogi Bear. Every single one a pile of barf.

@xstryker - Flintstones. Garfield. Dragon Ball Z. Aeon Flux. Speed Racer. Rocky & Bullwinkle, Dudley Do-right. George of the Jungle: Inspector Gadget. Avatar: The Last Airbender. Underdog. The only ones that weren't awful were Josie and the Pussycats and the original TMNT movie

It's truly amazing how Scooby Doo has managed to remain relevant since the 70's. Was never a big fan of it, but I remember Cyber Chase was my Citizen's Kane as a kid.

The fact that matthew lillard won't be playing Shaggy in this movie is a [frick]ing travesty.

Dude's been playing Shaggy for the last like 15 years and he should be playing the role for as long as he can, best shaggy since Casey Kasam.

@Mrcool210 - Followed by the fact that Frank Welker who's been literally voicing Fred since the beginning isn't the voice here is criminal.

@Mrcool210 - I was thinking the same thinking why wasn't he picked for the job? He knows the role and the voice like no other.

@8thDoctor - Agree with you there Frank is a phenomenal voice actor right next too Peter cullen.

But I guess the studio wanted either young voice actor or to sell the movie with big name actors. Some famous studios don't want to consider the original voice actors as real actors to bring in the crowd.
But it just my opinion I could be wrong.

@Matador - I could kind of get that argument if Lillard didn't literally play Shaggy in live action too. I get getting a new cast to sell the movie, but you got Tracy morgan for example in this, who gives a [frick] about him? The name Scooby Doo will sell the movie, so just keep the same actors.

@Mrcool210 - Yeah I was kinda weirded out about Tracy Morgan playing Captain Caveman just doesn't sound right.

I can only imagine that since there doing animated Hanna-Barbera shared universe there might be more unexpected voice actors coming our way.

It's sounds pretty cool but I kinda want to frown due to how they might be attempting to go the Marvel route.

But hey they have a huge roster of animated character's.

Maybe they realized live action may not have been the best route to go for there character's. Plus here's a world where we might get to see The Blue Falcon & Dyno-Mutt meet Batman & Ace the Bat-Hound.

Maybe there banking on a new audience as we get older there are new kids born everyday.

Both actors would do a fine job in the roles in a live action film.
