"The New 52" Won't Influence DC Animated Movies; Blackest Night Adaptation Planned?

Talking during today's Q&A for the Warner Premiere/DC Animation panel at the New York Comic-Con, Bruce Timm has revealed that there is currently no pressure from DC to include any of the changes which have occurred because of "The New 52" relaunch into any of their animated features. This is sure to come as a welcome relief to those of you who haven't approved of the various costume and characterization changes seen in the relaunch so far.

IGN Movies also point out that Timm mentioned the fact there's been talk of an adaptation of the Geoff Johns penned epic, "Blackest Night". Apparently, this is no more than "internal chatter" at this point and he refused to reveal any more details. In other news, he did offer an update on the animated version of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, confirming that it's still on track for release in 2012 or 2013.

that's bull! their next film, JL: Doom, is CLEARLY influenced by it.

Blackest Night would be awesome but my first choice would be an adaption of Identity Crisis.

This relaunch is just a temporary thing. If we just calm down and hold out, everything will go back to the good old mixed crazy azz continuity that we all love.

I think that they should do a series of GL animated films. They should be "Sinestro Corps War", "Rage of the Red Lanterns", "Blackest Night", and "Brightest Day".

DC relaunch has some really, really good stuff. who cares about animated. Swamp Thing, Animal Man (f'n awesome), Demon Knights would be a great Fantasy flick (maybe not with a 7 warrior roster) and Dead Man (like Quantum Leap) would all be great. Come guys, give the new DCU a chance, there's some really good stuff out there.

Blackest Night would be [frick]ing incredible. I think if they do another Green Lantern Animated movie, they should do Sinestro Corps Wars. Also if they ever were to incorporate the new 52 they should definitely do a Flashpoint animated film first.

@Intruder- They can make some good sh** now, now that they're owned by one of the greatest animation studios in the history of film.
Imagine one of your favorite Marvel story arcs done with animation in the style of 'Fantasia'. Got ya thinking yet?

@LordDeathMan

Exactly, this why the new Green Lantern cartoon should have been 2d, they could have done Blackest Night as storyline on the cartoon and covered everything, oh well just another let down.
