Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. is developing a feature-length film of Adventure Time. The show centers around Finn, a 13 year old boy, and his best friend Jake, a dog with magicial powers, as the two set out on adventures to protect the Land of Ooo from evil.
The film is set to be produced by Chris McKay, the director of the upcoming LEGO Batman Movie, Roy Lee, and Dan Lin, who were producers alongside McKay on the critical and box-office success, The LEGO Movie, and Cartoon Network Studios. Pendleton Ward, the creator of Adventure Time, will have involvement in writing and producing the film. No director has been announced at this time. This marks the first film based on a Cartoon Network series since The Powerpuff Girls Movie, which was a box-office failure back in 2002.
