Fox today released a trailer for Axe Cop, one of the quarter-hour series that will launch Fox’s late-night alternative animated programming block Animation Domination High-Def, which premieres Saturday, July 27. It is based on the Axe Cop web comic, created by then five-year-old Malachai Nicolle, who did the writing, and his 29-year-old brother, Ethan, who drew it. It chronicles the adventures of an axe-wielding police officer and his loyal team of allies as they fight bad guys. The first five installments of Axe Cop were put online on January 25, 2010 and went viral in a matter of days, spawning a graphic novel by Dark Horse Books. Axe Cop was developed for television by Fox’s animation unit head Nick Weidenfeld and Judah Miller. Matt Silverstein and Dave Jeser serve as executive producers/showrunners. The series ensemble cast includes Megan Mullally, Patton Oswalt, Ken Marino and Peter Serafinowicz.
