Young Justice will debut as a series in January 2011, but on November 26th Cartoon Network will air the one-hour premiere "Independence Day," the official synopsis of which follows.

In Young Justice, being a teenager means proving yourself over and over — to peers, parents, teachers, mentors and, ultimately, to yourself. But what if you're not just a normal teenager? What if you're a teenage super hero? How much harder will it be to prove yourself in a world of super powers, super villains and super secrets? Are you ready to come of age in such a world? Are you ready for life or death rites of passage? Are you ready to join the ranks of the great heroes and prove you're worthy of the Justice League? That's exactly what the members of Young Justice — Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis — will find out … whether they have what it takes to be a proven hero.

In the premiere episode, Robin, Speedy, Aqualad and Kid Flash are finally granted access to the headquarters of the Justice League. But when that
access turns out to be little more than a glorified backstage pass, Speedy walks, and the other three sidekicks go on a mission of their
own…to Project Cadmus, where they make a startling discovery.

@jonedc dont get me wrong Avengers is cool but i was talking about the art style and overall animation just by the preview alone the animation is more fluid than the Avengers

I saw the premiere and I have to say that it gets off to a great start. The done is definitely more JLU, though in some cases a little darker.

I'm not sure I see the similarities with Spyke.Other than being black teens, they don't look anything alike.

I'd rather get a new Justice League cartoon rather than have Young Justice. But this could be good. DC do seem to do better at animated tv shows and movies than they do at making live action films.

@ LEEE: Garth is going to be in the show just not as a primary character......He will be "Spikes" (lol) Best friend and the previous Aqualad...

For the people complaining about Garth not being in, you do realize that Garth was actually kicked off the original Teen Titans because the writers thought he was useless, right? The boy who could talk to fish and ran around in lame-ass shorts.....

This looks awesome. Can' wait.

I don't know why people always feel they have to put down something else to build up what they like. Avengers is a good show, probably Marvel's best ever. DC does great with their animation, of course,if you have WB studios to back you up that helps. This Show looks great, wish they would have worked CMJ or Mary Marvel in since I see Captain Marvel in the background.

I loved the young Justice comic and even though I'm little annoyed about some of the changes they've made I think this is going to be great plus there is one thing not from the comics I want to see, I'd love them to bring in superboy prime. Just wish it was bart allen instead of wally west, oh well can't have everything

@deathmetalbrian

I know what the original Aqualad's powers were, and I also no that the writers behind Teen Titans are on record saying they wrote him out of the book because they felt his "powers" made him useless.

And yes, I know he's a different Aqualad. I was pointing out that Lee's remarks about the new Aqualad being "lame" were laughable considering that he said that and then whined about the orignal Aqualad (who as I just mentioned, was booted because the writers felt he was useless) not being in the show.

I couldn't agree more. Most of the time, it's called fanboy insecurities. Looking forward to this show.

@weneedrevelation
Yeah, X-men TAS was good for it's day but that's over now and it's time to move on. But let's be honest, as much as I love XM TAS the show had some flaws. The animation wasn't the best and it frequently was choppy. Some of the voice acting wasn't the best either, I almost can't stand to listen to Storm's character being overacted while watching some of the reruns. Marvel's animation history has been hit and miss but it seems they're trying to get their act together. Spectacular Spiderman was an excellent toon. Tight written stories, great action and very fluid animation. Unfortunately it was cancelled prematurely but Avengers seem to be a part of that same mold. Some people are already calling it Marvel's best toon ever. Even some critics are comparing it to JL/JLU and a few are suggesting it actually has shown a better 1st season so far.

I consider the JL/JLU to be the gold standard as far as superhero team toons go. Both YJ and Avengers will have to live up to that standard, imo. Both toons have a chance to be better and raise the bar higher.

Finally...Kid Flash and Conner!

Wonder if there would be Smallvile episodes with Ma and Krypto.

Nice tweaks on the designs. Would be great to see Conner put on the jacket with "S" on the back again. Heroics by day, party by night! its SUPAHBOY man!

I'm just glad I don't have to choose between the two shows.

I plan to enjoy both.

I doubt YJ is as good as Avengers for me because of the long anticipation.

I have been waiting for a good Marvel toon since X-Men and being a die-hard Avengers fan, this is the perfect series.

Besides, we've had great DC toons in recent years (JL, JLU) so DC has to really wow me for me to say YJ tops A:EMH.

For fans of both series(like me)Friday is going to be a good night.Young Justice comes on at 6/7 and then a new Avengers 2-parter comes on at 7:30/8:30.

I never got the avengers, what are they avenging?
The team sucks, captain america and ironman make sense, but the rest? Justice leage or Superfriends at least had the a list team.
Justice league had a purpose to get together an extraterrestial menace but the avengers??
What about the Hulk? I thought he wanted to be left alone why is he in the team?

The Ultimates name make more sense, but it should just include Thor, Cpt america, Iron man and of course the girl wasp.

tazmaniak - 11/21/2010, 7:49 AM
What are they avenging? They're avenging the wrongs done by the villains.Their purpose in the series is to capture the escaped villains.

"And there came a day, a day unlike any other, when Earth's mightiest heroes and heroines found themselves united against a common threat. On that day, the Avengers were born — to fight the foes no single super hero could withstand! Through the years, their roster has prospered, changing many times, but their glory has never been denied! Heed the call, then — for now, the Avengers Assemble!"

That's their purpose.

I'm excited for this show. The only thing I would change is swap Cassie Sandsmark for Artemis.

Also can someone please tell me when and where I can see that Avengers show? Never really got into the Avengers but that show looks pretty good. In that clip the whiny guy posted, I'm glad to see animated Hulk is a little wiener like animated Superman. I hate how they do that =/
