Fans of English-dubbed anime should be pretty familiar with Funimation and many of the voice actors who work on multiple projects with them. Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia, and Dragon Ball are just a few of the multitude of franchises dubbed by the company.

Ahead of the premiere of the final season of Attack on Titan, Funimation was awesome enough to set up several exclusive audio interviews with some of the talent. We will be bringing you our chats with voice talent Bryce Papenbrook (Deku), Josh Grelle (Bakugo), Jessica Calvello (Hange), Trina Nishimura (Mikasa), and Clifford Chapin (Connie) over the next couple of weeks.

While speaking with Jessica Calvello (The Stockholms, Cyanide & Happiness), we picked her brain about Hange's character development, perseverance, and antics, as well as why she believes Hange is a good fit for the show.

"This is going to sound like I don't like it, but I do. I think there's a real consistency to the character, not in that Hange hasn't grown, but I still feel that Hange is really super balanced as a character. Hange has got the crazy antics, the strategizing, the science, and all the nutty things and wacky, unethical experiments that Hange does more towards the earlier seasons.

And then Hange has got the dark moments in the exposition, and Hange has got the dark and the light. The character has a good balance for the show's bleakness, with the crazy antics that Hange has. In terms of character development, I don't want to say that she doesn't have it. I think that she's been constant throughout all of the seasons. Hange does what Hange needs to do. Loses an eye, they've got another one; loses a Titan, Hange's going to cry about it, and then Hange is going to persevere."
