Ryan Reynolds has officially announced that a brand new trailer for Pokemon: Detective Pikachu will be online at some point tomorrow, and the actor has chosen to share the news in uniquely hilarious fashion.

In the following video, Reynolds outlines his arduous process for "becoming" the little yellow Pokemon, and it sounds like the dedicated Deadpool star really went full-on method for this role.

Check out the teaser below - which also features an appearance from Blake Lively as herself - and be sure to check back tomorrow for that new trailer.

The story begins when ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.

Also starring Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton, Ken Watanabe, Bill Nighy, Suki Waterhouse and Rita Ora, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu is set for release on May 10.

@StarlordsDad - Same! The worldbuilding in the Detective Pikachu trailer looks great and it seems to be made with passion but I'm not feeling the Detective Pikachu angle

@Bokis - maube it's just me...but it's kinda hard to feel detective angle when you've seen whole 2 minutes of footage - choped up.

@Alex35 - What I mean is, as a life long Pokemon fan, what I like about the franchise is the adventure, focus on friendship and fighting monsters. Not crime solving or snarky and sarcastic humor. That said, the movie does look better than I anticipated
