ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA - Corey Stoll Plays Coy When Asked About Rumored Yellowjacket Return

There have been rumours for months that Corey Stoll will return as Darren Cross/Yellowjacket in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, but the actor chose to plead the Fifth when asked about that possibility.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will feature Jonathan Majors as another Kang Variant, though we currently have no idea which one! It's obvious the villain is about to become a recurring presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and we could meet The Conqueror, the Scarlet Centurion, Nathaniel Richards, Rama-Tut, or any number of variations.

That's a well-kept secret, but Corey Stoll's return as Darren Cross/Yellowjacket is not. Evangeline Lilly seemingly spilled the beans in a social media post when production started, while Loki even teased the villain's return after a giant version of his helmet was spotted in The Void.

Yellowjacket's apparent demise may have looked definitive on the surface, but so did Janet Van Dyne's, and it seems likely Cross ended up in the Quantum Realm or elsewhere in the timestream.

Inverse recently caught up with Stoll to discuss his role in The Many Saints of Newark, and the actor certainly didn't deny his Marvel Cinematic Universe return! "I just can't answer, sorry," he said when asked about his rumoured role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. "There's just no percentage of me answering any of that."

Yeah, he'll be back alright.

Only time will tell what sort of role Yellowjacket will play in the threequel, but this character definitely still has some potential. Peyton Reed is back to helm the action, but Rick and Morty scribe Jeff Loveness penned the screenplay, so we're anticipating this being quite an improvement over the first two movies.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is set to be released on February 17, 2023.

I love the first Ant-Man. The second is pretty good. I like the small scale family driven aspect so it'll be interesting how they weave in Kang the Conqueror to that.

Hearing a lot of rumors, the F4 will be introduced (or at least referenced) in this movie. I'm all for it.

Come back for thunderbolts or dark avengers afterwards.

I don't know what kind of answer these fools think they're going to get or why they'd try to spoil it for everyone. If he's in it, he signed an NDA for a reason. It's baffling and usually comes attached to an interview for another project, which is pretty disrespectful as well. All in the name of getting a scoop that's not happening.

@inkniron - pretty much. Everybody thinks THEY’RE the one who is gonna get the recognition.

Good on him with that answer.

Completely even, professional, respectful, and bereft of ego. Guy is stand-up.

@inkniron - I think sometimes they slip up but the interviewer has to be good and asking good questions.

Like with Keaton confirming two Barry's in the flash but it was just a conversational interview

I’ve always thought of Stoll as a borderline Top 5 MCU villain to this point solely based on the strength and charisma of his performance. He elevated a mid-tier character with a pretty great end product.

Spitballing off the top if my head here but:

1) Brolin
2) Jordan
3) Leung
4) Hiddleston
5) Stoll

with Jordan and Leung being VERY interchangeable.

@SauronthePower - no love for Keaton or Bruhl?

@MyCoolYoung - Bruhl and Blanchett are right there knocking at that door, as is Stan. I liked Keaton, A LOT, but there is something about the pacing and direction of that particular movie that always irks me despite phenomenal work by Holland, Batalon, and Keaton. I have a sneaking suspicion that that something is named Jon Watts.

@SauronthePower - I can't get with you on that one. Homecoming a goat to me. Far from home left a lot to be desired though

@MyCoolYoung - it’s cool.

We all have different tastes.

I found Homecoming to be very poorly paced and had an overall production look akin to Sony and not in line with the MCU. By the time the Washington Monument scene comes on, the movie feels 2 hours old to me because of the drawn out pacing. A close example would be in that first piece of garbage Hobbit movie, ‘An Unexpected Journey,’ wherein by the time they reach the Rivendell sequence, the movie feels old and like it should be wrapping up.

Absolutely loved Shang-Chi, for whatever that’s worth.

@SauronthePower - still haven't seen Shang Chi. Been dealing with some social anxiety but I'm going to get to those theaters

I wonder if he's the same one returning or a variant. If he's not a variant, I would think he's gotta be pretty messed up from somehow managing to survive

@Slotherin - probably went to the quantum realm

@MyCoolYoung - yeah, but he had an arm shrink before the rest of his body... it ought to be [frick]ed up from that, along with possibly other organs or body parts.
Not saying he has to be dead, only that I hope damage is acknowledged

@Slotherin - Yes, I agree. I mean, they can make all kinds of sh*t up as to what happened, and it probably wouldn't matter much. Most of this stuff it made up, impossible sh*t, anyway.

BUT, I also feel that it would be better than not acknowledging it at all. I kind of really don't like it when they just "ignore" some things that happened.
