We were all excited to see Hope Van Dyne finally suit up in Ant-Man and The Wasp, but Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania sees her mom, Janet, steal the show.
Michelle Pfeiffer is an absolute joy to watch in the divisive threequel, kicking ass and taking names in the Quantum Realm. Michael Douglas gets some solid material as Hank Pym as well, though, but missed out on what sounds like a fantastic scene featuring the original Ant-Man.
According to The Cosmic Circus' Alex Perez, the scene near the end of the movie when Hank unleashes his technologically advanced ants on Kang the Conqueror once played out much differently.
In a sequence he believes was shot, Hank once again donned his Ant-Man suit, with the big hero moment coming when he removed his helmet to better show Kang who he's dealing with. However, the time-traveller would have then recognised him as the Ant-Man he's faced in other realities while battling The Avengers.
In the comic books, Hank was a founding member of that team and spent years jumping between identities (such as Giant-Man and Yellowjacket, for example) before Scott Lang came along.
Elsewhere in this report, Perez reveals: "I can assure you that every single version of Kang is particularly pissed with Scott...the person that they’re going to be pissed off the most is at Janet Van Dyne. [I've] no idea if it’s going to play out yet as it is extremely early [but] I would not be surprised if Janet Van Dyne is killed in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty."
Putting the Ant-Man family front and centre in that movie makes sense, especially as Scott may be to blame for the Multiversal madness that's on the horizon. We'd be sad to see Janet go, but she crossed Kang, and if the Conqueror survived, he's bound to be looking for revenge.
It's a little surprising the other Kangs are that angry about Scott, Hope, Hank, and Janet killing a Kang they exiled, but they're likely more concerned by them interfering with the Multiverse.
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is currently playing in theaters.
