He's not a con-man. He's an ex-con, as in convict.

Somebody mis-quoted a Marvel press release six months ago saying Lang was a con-man instead of an ex-con and everyone accepted it. Scott Lang is a master thief. He doesn't run a three-card monte game on street corners.
