AQUAMAN Adds ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Actor Randall Park As Dr. Stephen Shin
Ant-Man and the Wasp actor Randall Park has joined the cast of Aquaman, which means he's going to appear in both a Marvel movie and a DC movie in the same calendar year. Come check it out!
James Wan has revealed that Randall Park has joined the cast of his upcoming underwater DC Films adventure, Aquaman, as Dr. Stephen Shin.
In the comics, Shin is a friend to Tom Curry who helps young Arthur master and control his burgeoning aquatic abilities but eventually ends up turning on his former pupil when Aquaman refused to tell him the hidden location of Atlantis.
Park joins a cast headlined by Jason Momoa (Justice League) and that also features Amber Heard (Justice League), Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man), Patrick Wilson (Watchmen), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (The Greatest Showman), Temuera Morrison (Green Lantern), Michael Beach (Patriots Day), Dolph Lundgren (Creed II), Ludi Lin (Power Rangers), and Academy Award-winner Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies).
The film is currently in the midst of pickups as Wan works tirelessly on putting the finishing touches on DC Films' next chapter. While a trailer release date remains TBD, it's looking increasingly likely that it will make its grand debut at CinemaCon (where yours truly will be in attendance) later this month.
Park is best known for his role on ABC's Fresh Off The Boat and his past credits include, but are not limited to, The Interview, The House, The Disaster Artist, Office Christmas Party, The Night Before, The Hollars, Southpaw, and The Office. He's also set to appear in Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp this summer as Jimmy Woo, which could become a recurring role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we head toward Phase 4 and beyond.
