Director James Wan has shared a post on social media assuring fans that he's on the mend, following a health scare that required him to be rushed to the emergency room. Wan made the post to his Instagram stories feed (where posts disappear after 24 hours) but DC fans on Twitter snagged a screenshot.
The post reads, "Thank you Cedar Sinai for taking good care of me."
Wan's wife, Ingrid Bisu screenshot his post and then followed up with her own statement:
"It has been an extremely rough and scary couple of days and nights. You never want to rush to the ER in the middle of the night and then have to stay in the hospital. Cedars Sinai is truly the best!! The best doctors, nurses, technicians, just the most wonderful people. James is safe now and on the mend.”
Wan's medical emergency is eerily reminiscent of a health scare that befell actor Jamie Foxx back in April.
Wan is currently thought to be knee-deep in post-production efforts on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The film is currently set to be released on December 20, 2023, and will put the capstone on Zack Snyder's DCEU before James Gunn reboots the cinematic universe with Superman: Legacy in 2025.
There have been reports in recent days that The Lost Kingdom may push back its release date amid the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike- which prohibits stars from promoting their upcoming projects. However, the film has not shifted its release just yet.
Recently, Wan pointed to the standalone nature of the sequel as a reason for fans to check out The Lost Kingdom, despite a looming reboot.
