A Japanese trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom found its way online late last night, and we now have a new international poster for James Wan's DC Comics sequel to go with it.

In addition to Toppo the bongo-playing octopus, Arthur Curry is going to be paired-up with another of his aquatic sidekicks from the comics in the movie, and this one-sheet finds the King of Atlantis riding into battle on Storm the seahorse.

Following initial rumors that the film had undergone extensive reshoots after a series of disastrous test-screenings, the final cut was referred to by more than one source as a "mess." More recently, details from Mera actress Amber Heard's therapy sessions (made available due to the court case) claimed that co-star Jason Momoa created a hostile working environment by dressing like her ex Johnny Depp while intoxicated.

Wan has downplayed these claims, but even if The Lost Kingdom proves to be better and more successful than we expect, it will be the final film in the current "DCEU" era, making a threequel highly unlikely.

"Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.

All returning to the roles they originated, Jason Momoa plays Arthur Curry/Aquaman, no, after w balancing his duties as both the King of Atlantis and a new father; Patrick Wilson is Orm, Aquaman’s half-brother and his nemesis, who must now step into a new role as his brother’s reluctant ally; Amber Heard is Mera, Atlantis’ Queen and mother of the heir to the throne; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is Black Manta, committed more than ever to avenge his father’s death by destroying Aquaman, his family and Atlantis; and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, a fierce leader and mother with the heart of a warrior. Also reprising their roles are Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin."

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set to swim into theaters on December 20.

Appreciate James Wan's directing style, so going to give this one a watch. I'm not expecting the script to be good, but it'd also be hilarious if this film ended up performing better than The Marvels.

It's better than some MCU posters, I'll give it that.

When I look at some of the marketing and finished films, it is clear that a lot of people in Hollywood think that thhey are catering to dumb immature people. Those that buy into this perception are the ones in charge at least at Warner Brothers and it is leading to many of these garbage films.

I have to say I love how Asian marketing differs from the US. That Japanese trailer was the energy I want from this movie. It's a little bit cheesy like anime can be, but hyped as hell.

Should have had him riding a big creepy Anglerfish instead of a seahorse. That’s would be more intimidating

I wasn’t expecting much from the movie but that was a damned good trailer for Aquaman 2. This could sneakily make some bank just like the first one. If so, who’d have thought Aquaman would be the hero to put up the big box office numbers outside of Batman for DC.
