Following its first batch of reviews, Aquaman is shaping up to be the second-best reviewed film in the entire DC Films universe and now, IMAX has released two new posters for the Jason Momoa-starrer.

While reviews have been decidedly mixed (76% RottenTomatoes; 53 Metacritic), they have been leaning considerably more positive than the past few DC entries - save for Wonder Woman, of course - which should still bode well for its box office potential this coming December.

However, with both Sony's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Paramount's Bumblebee receiving widespread critical acclaim and Disney's Mary Poppins Returns opening two days prior, it remains to be seen whether the James Wan-directed underwater epic will be able to sustain its spot atop the box office through the new year after what's sure-to-be a monumental debut next weekend.

IMAX has now released a pair of new Aquaman posters, which implore fans to catch the film on the biggest screen imaginable and see up to 26% more picture.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be…a king.

Aquaman features:
Director: James Wan
Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman
Amber Heard as Mera
Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko
Patrick Wilson as King Orm/Ocean Master
Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna
Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as David Kane/Black Manta
Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry
Ludi Lin as Captain Murk
Michael Beach as Jesse Kane
Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin
Graham McTavish as King Atlan
Leigh Whannell as Cargo Pilot
Kaan Gulder as Young Arthuer (9yo)
Otis Dhanji as Young Arthur (13yo)
Kekoa Kekumano as Young Arthuer (16yo)
Julie Andrews as Karathen
John Rhys-Davis as Brine King
Djimon Hounsou as King Ricou
Sophia Forrest as the Fisherman Princess
Natalia Safran as Queen Rina

Imma just say it... I like his suit in Justice League a lot more than the classic one here. In this, the bright corn-nibblet orange just doesn't work for this dude. Looks out of place. Someone like Mamoa looks destined to wear something darker and tougher.

@KWilly - It's his hair. They should've made it more "blonde" to begin with if they were gonna keep it long.

@KWilly - I like them both the classic suit in action works so well.

@KWilly - It's not a bad redesign, especially in comparison with the Flash costume, but it's the definition of a costume that's BLAND as hell.

The one in the new flick looks a hell of a lot better than that one.

@KWilly - That costume looks better suited to Momo, but it needs a heavy recolor first. The dark brown, dark green and dark gold blend together so much it's hard to what color anything is supposed to be.

The suit looks so good in action. Much better than that crappy Justice League one.

I had Great time in the theater watching it!
It has its faults if you want to overtly nitpick but overall it's EXACTLY what an Aquaman movie needed to be to be taken seriously yet not too serious ... Oh and the world building is spectacular.

Momoa isn't "perfect" in the role but he works with what they're going for.

The problem is that the majority of IMAX theaters aren't the proper big ones, just a standard large theater with enhanced picture and sound. If it ain't the massive huge screen it ain't really worth it.

@MosquitoFarmer - Most of these film aren't even shot on real IMAX (70MM IMAX film with the huge aspect ratio and high quality(, they're just 'formatted' for IMAX. Which means their aspect ratio changes occasionally to fit a digital IMAX (Which is shorter than your TV's aspect ratio) and they can't go higher than 2K or 4K.

IIrc there's only like 15 films that have footage shot on real IMAX (The only one this year was First Man) because it's such a large film format it's difficult to shoot with. IMAX diluted their brand further by creating digital IMAX cameras which are Alexa 65's that shoot in the digital ratio. Any digital camera can shoot in any ratio but 70mm IMAX is something special.

@FilmStudent - Agreed. Furthermore, if the movie was shot normally but played on the 70mm screen, then even I might argue that it's worth the extra money to see it that way. When I saw No Country For Old Men in NYC it happened to be screening on the city's only proper IMAX screen, and that was a great surprise, and the movie couldn't have looked better.

@regularmovieguy - ok I'm out.....tbh I will never understand these critics. It felt like a marvel phase 1 origin movie on steroids!! The visuals had me grinning and getting goosebumps, its seriously the most comic booky movie i've ever seen. How ant-man and the wasp is liked more boggles my mind (that movie is good at best). Pacing was on par with Infinity war and the action and visuals were amazing at times.

Pros
. Visuals
. black manta
. Action / set pieces
. King Orm in his suit
. Mamoa does fine
. CGI

Cons
. Some of the cheesy music choices
. Some of the cheesy jokes
. Needed more to Orms motivations (not bad but could have been expanded)
. Not as dark as I'd hoped lol
. Amber is a bit one note

I'd give it a solid 8/10 Defo gonna see it again.

@regularmovieguy - I hope you enjoy it! It's not the best movie (story wise) but the action is great definitely a 8/10 maybe a high 7/10 I gotta go watch it again to make sure I'm not high on hype.

This has nothing to do with Aquaman but I find it hilarious that the advertising blitz for IMAX is to show what the movie looks like in a regular theater and then highlight the "26% more picture" areas of the movie you can see if you see it in IMAX but it's always just basically empty space.

@Reeds2Much - Ah, but a design major would tell you that white space sells the image. Not me, a design major douche, lol.
