Warner Bros. officially announced the start of production on Aquaman earlier this week with a full cast list, but it looks like they may have been holding back a surprise or two.

Black Manta actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (The Get Down) took to his personal Twitter earlier this evening to post a pair of photos of himself and director James Wan (Furious 7) in Australia meeting with Indigenous Elders and youth to obtain their blessings before they began working on their land, and the group photo he shares may have inadvertently revealed a previously unannounced cast member.

Sandwiched right beween Abdul Mateen and Wan is an actor that looks a lot like The 100 and Patriots Day actor Michael Beach. The studio has made no comment on the potential casting reveal, but seeing him pictured with Abdul-Mateen II has many fans online are already speculating that he might have signed on to portray the Black Manta's father in a possible flashback sequence.

Additionally, to add fuel to the fire, Beach follows both Wan and Jason Momoa (Justice League) on Twitter, so that could mean something.

Check out his photos below:

Not to mention, Beach is a veteran of Justice League Unlimited, having voiced Mister Terrific and Black Manta stand-in Devil Ray.

Abdul-Mateen kills it on The Get Down Looking forward to seeing him the role.
Please have King Nereus and Ocean Master as primary villains, setting up Black Manta for centre stage in the sequel. Or better yet, have him Manta imprisoned by the end of Aquaman and make him a key player in the Suicide Squad sequel.

Seems a bit young to be his father...unless it is in a flashback

@Forthas - Beach is 53, Yahya is about 30. Nevertheless, if that's the case it's probably in a flashback.

More invested in the DC TV universe than movie but really looking forward to this one . Should get a good feel for this one once we get a taste in justice League.

This is perfect casting. Beach was great on The 100 as Pike. He's a good actor, over 20 years older than Yahya, and he plays the morally corrupt character really well.
