Jeremy Renner Drops Hints About An AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Set Visit; Talks HAWKEYE Season 2 Plans

Avengers: Endgame star Jeremy Renner has dropped some hints about paying a visit to the Avengers: Doomsday set, but was he there to shoot anything? The actor has also discussed Hawkeye Season 2 plans...

Rumours about Marvel Studios' plans for Hawkeye Season 2 have swirled for a while. Jeremy Renner has confirmed reports that future episodes would be inspired by The Raid, and we've heard that Clint Barton and Kate Bishop will battle Barney Barton/ Trickshot.

Well, if a second season ever happens, of course.

Much to the surprise of fans, Renner revealed that he turned down Season 2 after Marvel Studios offered him half of what he'd earned for Season 1 (for what would be a lengthy 9-month shoot). Marvel Studios is also expected to put less of a focus on big screen characters on streaming, creating a clearer line between what people can see in theaters and at home.

Does that mean Renner's time in the MCU is over? He isn't among those confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, though Hailee Steinfeld is expected to reprise her role by assembling alongside the Young Avengers.

Talking to Cinema Blend, the actor hinted that he's at least visited the Avengers: Doomsday set. Whether he was there to shoot anything is another matter!

"Yeah, well, [they] are very, very dear friends of mine. I got to catch up with them, actually, when I was on the book tour when they were filming in London," Renner confirmed. "I got to break bread with all of the boys on that show. It was good to see everybody and we have a forever bond. Whether we're filming or not, we're always connected."

In a separate conversation with Screen Rant, the Mayor of Kingstown star reiterated that he remains open to starring in Hawkeye Season 2. He also appeared to confirm that it would once again have a Christmas setting.

"For a second season, that was always the idea to continue that narrative, even in the Christmas framework of it all, too, because they love that world in New York. There’s really no more beautiful place than New York until Christmas. After Christmas is kind of bleak." However, he stressed that, "it’s really not my decision to make."

So, we may be one step closer to Hawkeye season 2 becoming a reality...if the two sides can find a middle ground with money and time. Hawkeye season 1 served as a passing of the mantle to Hailee Steinfeld's Kate, so she could likely hold her own without him having a lead role.

It will be strange to watch Avengers: Doomsday without Hawkeye being there. Still, it wouldn't be the first time he was sidelined, as Clint was absent from Avengers: Infinity War before taking on a lead role in Avengers: Endgame.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars scheduled to arrive on December 17, 2027.

Hawkeye season 1 was okay, but kinda actually sucked, didn't it? Nothing really important transpired worthy of mentioning.

@TheVandalore - 'Sucked' is a stretch but it didn't have any real jeopardy or progress a story arc. However, it still managed to be one of the most watchable Marvel TV projects. The Christmas in NYC setting was perfect and Flo Pugh, as usual, stole every scene she was in. I could go another Christmas adventure with that cast.

@TheVandalore - You’ll be the one having to explain what sucked about it. The show was favored when it came out. But people on this site often turn on content after a few months.

@TheVandalore - I loved the show, not everything needs to be world changing and for a TV series I'd generaly say it is BETTER it isn't anything that will have wider impacts as then you realy ARE into the small screen being required viewing than it already had become percieved to be. Also a lot cheaper to make a show with humans taking on organised crime where they haven't got BO returns to cover the elevated costs of enhanced beings, aliens and spaceships etc but if done well can be just as entertaining (and for longer in total screentime wise).

Not everything needs to be taking down alien armies, I'm fine if we had a Spider-man short series where he is tackling organised crime and leave all the Green Goblin type stuff for the films for instance (not that we'd get a live action Spider-man series) as a show lets you get to know the characters better even if not much impactfull occurs in terms of who the antagonists are/do. I had a better grasp on what makes Kate Bishop AND Hawkeye tick in that one series than I ever did from ALL the prior films with Nat and Clint and that is more where the strengths of TV over film lies.

For those only watching films you basicaly want a returning character to be roughly how they were in the prior film most the time even if they were off taking on the Yakuza or whatever in a TV show inbetween IOW.

Oh man , it might have been kinda gimmicky but an annual season of Hawkeye during Christmas would have been very fun imo but oh well…

Anyway , it seems like Renner just probably met up with them for dinner or something rather then visited the set.

Regardless of whether we get more seasons of Hawkeye or not , S1 was good and honestly provided a nice end via passing of the torch (or arrow) for the character imo!!.

I hope they do a second season, but I also hope they give Moon Knight a second season. The character got totally screwed with that first season, only 14 minutes of Moon Knight in 8 over 8 episodes and even then mostly Mr Knight.

@Linux1172 - second seasons for Hawkeye and Moon Knight would be cool, but I also wouldn't mind seeing their stories continued in Young Avengers (with Clint as mentor) and Midnight Sons respectively
