AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Actress Letitia Wright Would Love To See Shuri Take On The Mantle Of Black Panther

Fan-favorite Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War actress Letitia Wright was asked about her character Shuri taking over the role of Black Panther. Find out what her answer was after the jump...

Avengers: Infinity War naturally left a lot of questions about the future of the MCU, details of which are being kept under wraps until the release of next year's Avengers 4. One thing we do know is that we will see a sequel to this year's other hugely successful Marvel film, Black Panther.

With no concrete future slate details and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige willing to hold out until Creed director Ryan Coogler is ready to return, there's no word on when we can expect to see Chadwick Boseman in another solo outing for the character.

When T'Challa does return to our screens, however, you can be sure that breakout star and fan favorite Letitia Wright will be joining him as Shuri. This has led to speculation about where we could see her character go in the future, including her adopting the mantle of Wakanda's protector herself.

While at the MCM London Comic Con, the young actress was asked about this possibility and seemed very much open to the idea should it come to pass.

"If the opportunity came about, then why not? It would be comic book accurate. Yeah, that would be amazing. It means more training, more learning and it would really be an amazing adventure. Shuri becomes a savage in the comic books. From going to comedic and fun and like a kid – to then just pulling out some claws. I’m excited."

With this era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe coming to a close and a very different one on the horizon, many assumed we would indeed be getting into the legacy aspect of these popular characters but with Chadwick Boseman only one solo film and three performances in, the chances of Wright taking over anytime soon are slim.

What do you think? Would you like to see Shuri become Black Panther? Do you want Boseman to see out a trilogy? Leave your thoughts below.

Boseman is only signed for one more film after Avengers 4, so...maybe!

@Pigdango - wow that surprises me, can’t believe they only saw his as a one off, not even options to return? Because when I hear one more I hear it as the 4th Cap movie where he’s playing a role helping Buck transition. Why make a second if no trilogy? They should give BP a trilogy man. He’s not my favorite, but they’ve already built his world, kind of stupid not to do it.

At this point she isn't ready for that. She can't fight. She definitely wouldn't win a trial by combat for the mantle, where you would have to fight without any powers. The next logical choice at this time is M'Baku or Okoye. Shuri's only attribute right now is that she's a tech wizard. Killmonger almost killed her without any effort at all and she was useless/defenseless in infinity war when Vision needed her. I'm not against the move but right now I would not be convinced that she has the skill.

I am so on board with that. She was the highlight of the film for me.

I’m totally down, she was a standout in the movie. T’challa has been a little dull, so it would be pretty exciting to see Shuri take up the mantle.

I wouldn't mind it, after Boseman gets a trilogy of course

So how about this....DON'T make her black panther..... and not cause she's not a good character/or actress, just not one for the claws just yet...

HOWEVER....

Because she's in charge of T'Challa's American outreach program, and dealing with science and medical exchange (Which is going to be dealing with ALLOT of crime as you could imagine)

....and since Riri is SHIT.....

How about we take the person who should've been Ironheart in the comics....and make her Ironheart in the MCU....since Ironman's more then likely hanging up the armor after Infinity pt.2?

I mean Rhody became Iron Patriot...why not? We already like her, and fan outcry already gave her fans....no one would hate it....

@TheSoulEater
My thoughts exactly. She could be the MCU’s Ironheart. No need to create a whole new character with a whole new origin.

The way she fights is practically using repulsor blasts.

RIGHT?!?

@KingEmperor - Precisely right , especially when that comic origin isn't that good anyway...best to give it to someone deserving both in comic and silver screen.
