AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR: Those Scenes With Thor And Rocket Raccoon May Not Take Place On Earth

Chris Hemsworth was recently spotted with a Rocket Raccoon stand-in on the England set of Avengers: Infinity War, but it turns out that very Earthly location may not be on our world after all...

Chris Hemsworth has been shooting scenes for Avengers: Infinity War as Thor in Durham Cathedral in England and was recently spotted alongside a Rocket Racoon stand-in. While it was quickly noted that one of the statues that had been placed there matched the one from the God of Thunder's vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron, most fans assumed these scenes probably take place somewhere on Earth.

However, the Guardians may not be visiting Star-Lord's home after all. The Sunderland Echo recently caught up with directors Joe and Anthony Russo and report that several key scenes have been shot in the cathedral but noted that it won't be used as one in the movie itself. That could mean any number of things, but chances are the scene will take place either on Asgard or some otherworldly location.

We'll just have to wait and see, but the site has also provided us with a nice shot of the current Avengers: Infinity War logo. More comments from the filmmakers can be found by clicking above.

Well, it would be impressive if the title was "may not take place in space" as it was obvious it would take place in space.

Trat's so cool they're trying to use practical location in such a big impossible movie. it's the Russo's style. More grounded.

Don't buy it. They're definitely coming to Earth. If they don't then all the avengers are going to space.

GREAT INTERVIEW WITH THE MAN, KEVIN FEIGE:

"we had the premiere of this film [GOTG Vol 2] last night and the junket today. We had a screening of ‘Spider-Man’ a couple of days ago and then a scoring session with Michael Giacchino. We’re in editorial on ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ right now with Taika [Waititi]. ‘Black Panther’ just wrapped and they’ll be back at the end of this week to start cutting that film. We were doing our final meetings with ‘Captain Marvel’ filmmakers, which we just announced, and meeting with Brie [Larson] about the ‘Captain Marvel’ storyline. Peyton Reed is about to move to Atlanta next week to begin official prep on ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’. It really is diving into all aspects of that.”

"We’re in various stages. We just put out the ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ trailer. We’re working on the ‘Black Panther’ trailer. We’re working on some new things for Spider-Man… It really is a fun-filled non-stop journey through eight films that we’re at different points in the process. Right now, there’s a night shoot in Scotland, so I’m getting texts from the producer on set there. They’re making script changes and line changes. It’s a lot to keep track of.”

“I think that part of the reason we succeeded is because we have been able to stick to our guns and stick to our vision and not Monday morning quarterback based on what other are doing,” Feige explains. “Or based on think pieces about the state of the industry. We started out being very excited that we were finally able to be the people creatively responsible for a Marvel film ourselves and do them in the way that our instincts sort of called for us to do them.”

“Or based on think pieces about the state of the industry."

Shots... fired?

Feige really is an interesting guy. I expect in 10 years or so (assuming nothing disastrous happens), there will be a lot of industry and even some academic analysis of what made the guy tick.

Granted... it must be a ton of work(that I probably can't even comprehend)and incredibly stressful. But man, what an awesome job Kevin Feige has!

@Spock0Clock - He's already a legend.

And he will be remembered as a legend.

I wonder what the MCU will look like post-Feige.

@PsychoticSpaceRaccoon - Assuming there's not major shift in zeitgeist or business structure, I think they're going to do a 20 or 25 year end-cap to the MCU (in either 2028 or 2033) which is essentially going to end the whole cinematic universe. And basically everyone's going to be back, and it will be the culmination of Feige's time at Marvel.

Then they do a whole-universe reboot, recast, and probably do it with actors who have basically signed their whole lives away for 30 pictures and a hundred TV appearances. Under some new corporate structure that fixes the problems that we've seen under the current, slapped together one that no one realized just how popular it would end up being.

But Feige's a pretty young dude. What's been so amazing about his run is that he got put into the center of the company at first by people who maybe didn't have all that much confidence in him, but like a cuckoo chick he's pushed all the other eggs out of the nest.

We're not likely to see anything like that happen with any of these comic publishers again. Because WB and Fox and in the future Marvel will always start as Hollywood establishments, there's not much of a chance that someone will come out of nowhere like Feige did, because based on his career up to that point, there was nothing to suggest just how great at this he'd be.

Or, I wonder if by then the heat will all be in some kind of interactive thing, like a game series (eliminating so many of the logistical headaches that the films have), that could potentially go on for decades.

Imagine if you could combine the mass market appeal of the Marvel movies with the longterm cultural investment of something like World of Warcraft, with the quality of the gaming experience of something like GTA 5, with new story patches every few months.

@Doomsday8888 - I was banned for nothing, man. Hard times. Just because I was saying the similarities between the 'Justice League' movie and the first 'Avengers' movie. And I was being respectful.

But that's okay. I'm a nicer guy now.
