Despite having the biggest roster seen so far in a superhero film, Captain America: Civil War succeeded in balancing both story and character quite well. Of course, Civil War will look like a walk in the park when the Avengers take on Thanos in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War.  The film, which is likely to include almost every hero we've seen so far (including the Guardians of the Galaxy), is shaping up to be both exciting and intimidating for directors Joe and Anthony Russo, but thanks to Civil War, the directors have a bit more confidence in their ability to pull off their next film.

In an interview with IGN, the Russos maintained that their handling of Civil War helped prepare them for the daunting task of tackling Infinity War “We love ensembles," said Anthony Russo. "That's part of what we love about our Marvel work as well, so the fact that we get to carry that process forward into Avengers: Infinity War, and not only carry it forward but at a scale and a scope that we've never even attempted before in those films, because those films are so much intended to be a culmination of everything that's unfolded in the MCU up until this point.”

Anthony continued to say that adding new heroes into the mix “created an opportunity for characters who didn't have to shoulder that narrative to show up in the movie and be much more whimsical and light and spontaneous and unencumbered by the weightiness of the overall narrative. From the point of view of Joe and I, we think about all of these movies as a continuity. The story that we told in Winter Soldier set the basis for the story we told in Civil War, and the story that we told in Civil War is again laying the groundwork for the story that we're going to tell in Avengers: Infinity War,” Anthony said. “For us, there's a narrative continuity between the movies, and each movie is in many ways setting the stage for the ones that follow. For us, we have a very specific through-line for all those films.”

In other Infinity War news, the brothers confirmed in an interview with Cinemablend that the next Avengers film would continue the trend of including cameos from Community cast members.  "We've got to keep the streak going," said Joe Russo. Previous cameos came from Danny Pudi in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Jim Rash in Captain America: Civil War"We're literally in that phase of the pre-production where we start thinking about those kinds of things," said Joe, "and right now we're looking for the right part to see who's a match for the next cameo."
