Well, I am certainly doing something I do not commonly do: writing an article instead of giving in depth analysis in the comments section about critical thinking which might or might not make people upset. No, for as much as I harp on editorials, I realized that it has been over a year since I had posted one myself. Now, instead of doing something like an explication of why Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World and how Mary Elizabeth Winstead should be an a-list actress or tearing apart the Big Bang Theory, I decided to do something a bit lighter than my normal fair. Despite maybe not being as entertained at super hero or genre movies this year as I would have hoped to be, I am still VERY excited to see how the first three phases of the MCU come to a conclusion. Now, while I can only speculate as to what will happen and, as my past foot in the mouth may be proof, I have no idea what Marvel will be doing in the future. What I can say is that I have some moments that I would REALLY like to see in these two movies. I thought it would be fun to share some of these.
Now, I am breaking this up into two parts because my top four are very long and I respect your time. If you do like these articles, please feel free to check out my my blogs at http://robertmcallisterwrites.wordpress.com (right now there is a FNAF theory up, but I plan to update with more serious subjects) and http://robertmcallisterwrites.tumblr.com/ I also have a serial novel that up date every other week that you can read here: http://channillo.com/series/dark-surf/<> />
Now that my shameless plugs are out of the way, let us begin.
Coulson Gets his Baseball Card Signed
We should begin with a sentimental moment for those who have watched these movies for a very long time. I think nothing will accomplish this more than a pretty funny, but also sweet call back from the first Avengers film to have one last Coulson/Rogers interaction. The way I picture it happening would be to have Cap cornered by whoever the blanket henchman characters may be, only to have Phil Coulson show up to blast them away. He walks up to Cap and pulls a blood vintage baseball card out of his pocket and says to the effect of “I think you forgot something.” He finally gets his autograph and we have a full circle moment in a movie FULL of full circle moments.
The Hulk Returns
While I am looking forward to this moment, I also wary. Marvel has been hit or miss with how they have used the Hulk. My score is two misses and one MASSIVE hit. I understand why Fiege wants to use him sparingly, other than just being mega Op'ed. When he comes back, it needs to be epic, but more importantly, it needs to be fun. I am not positive where he is going to be, but I imagine that if he shows up in space, hardcore fans are going to be just as pissed as us LOST fans were when it ended up being purgatory after six years of that hack Damon Lindleloff telling us it wasn't purgatory (yes, I know that wasn't exactly it, but it was still very sixth sense-y). No matter where he comes from, it needs to be one of two things. The first is the obvious one where the heroes get their butts kicked and it looks like all hope is lost when, right at that moment, The Hulk comes charging into the scene with Banner in full control. He proceeds to destroy what enemies happen to be in the way. The second won't be popular with many here but, given what we have seen in the story, it would make perfect sense ...though it does involve fridging which I am not particularly a fan of ...ever. But in this case, I think that was where Whedon was going which is quite weird given Whedon's past work. But then, he did create Doll House. After a giant battle, Banner returns from wherever only to find that Black Widow had just been killed during the onslaught. This final tragedy is what makes Banner and Hulk one; what brings them together; what puts Banner in complete control of the Hulk. Either way, I think there is going to come a point where Banner takes charge and you have yourself an Nuclear Weapon with the mind of a nuclear scientist.
Community Cameo
Like with the Winter Soldier, I fully expect a cameo from a community alum. Since we already saw Daniel Pudi playing Abed playing a security guard, I think we can count him out. So, who is next? I think giving the Dean's tribute to the Winter Soldier elevator scene, Jim Rash in a bit role is likely. Gillian Jacobs is another who I would be surprised showing up. Lol. Perhaps even Ken Jeong. However, I do not believe that they should waste Donald Glover or Alison Brie on one of these cameos due to how much potential they have to play heroes in the future if they so chose. BTW, here is a picture of Alison Brie which I think is VERY important to the article.
What would be REALLY funny is if there is a scene where Spider Man is fighting a villain and ends up in a bank. In the middle of the fight, Joel Mchale, as the bank manager, jumps up and yells "NOT AGAIN!"
Guardians of the Galaxy Meet the Avengers
This will probably be our first BIG EPIC GROUP SHOT OF DOOM in a second movie that is going to be full of them. Honestly, I think Infinity War part is going to begin immediately with the team up. Peter Quill arrives back on Earth with his team to warn the heroes about Thanos but they are too late and come after some destruction had already occurred. A second wave is coming, The Guardians and what remains of the Avengers team up to survive to re-group on how they are going to stop Thanos. I personally do not think the crossover is going to take up too much of the movie- logistically, it really can't- but I do think we are going to get one group and one battle. From there we are probably going to get Quill joining up with the main group that battles Thanos, and the Guardians involved in some kind of Space Dog Fight. Perhaps even a Nebula Vs. Gamora showdown to the death, though that should be done in a GOTG movie. I wouldn't be saying that if these movies were called MARVEL UNIVERSE: INFINITY WAR like it should, but I digress.
Agents of Shield Big Moment
By Big Moment, I mean they will probably show up to back up Maria Hill and/or Nick Fury. Hell, I doubt all of them will get speaking parts. While I think Coulson will more likely than not have a supporting role and Daisy Johnson will get an extended cameo, I do feel the rest will get a fight scene (as I believe almost every living character in the Universe will get some kind of nod) towards the end on a Heli-carrier or something. I would imagine the team would consist of May, Fitz, Simmons, Daisy, Coulson, Mocking Bird, Hunter, Death Lock, and Lincoln. Maybe they can have Patton Oswalt have a line or two too. Nothing great, but something that will reward those who watch the television show. Hopefully, the new deal with feige and Disney does not change the odds of this happening. BTW, here is a picture of Chloe Bennet
Ant-Family United
I very much want to see Pym suited up as Ant-Man for at least one fight scene. It would just be such a good moment to have him stand side by side with his daughter as The Wasp and his apprentice as Giant Man. Hell, have Pena suited up in the Eric O'Grady Ant-Man suit. I don't know what the odds of this happening are, but I think this cast played off so well together where you felt they were sort of this unofficial family (in a year where Marvel's Real First Family bombed at the Box Office) that I think giving them one fight would be excellent. Also, I think NOT suiting up Pym for one action set piece would be a waste.
Tyrese Parachutes His Car into Thanos and Yells "I'M BACK, BABY!"
This should happen in every movie from now on.
Masters of Evil
So ...about a year ago, I got into this argument with Glider Man about how the Avengers were going to have one more film before doing MARVEL UNIVERSE: Infinity War as one film when he speculated EXACTLY what happened. I was so sure about this that I was a pretty big A-hole to him during an editorial. I felt like an ass afterwards. Anyways, one of my ideas to round out an Avengers trilogy before going onto the massive crossover was a version of the Siege story line that featured the Masters of Evil. I still hope a variation of that happens. The way I see it, Loki already works with, or for, Thanos, and is well aware from the Heroes of Earth. In effort to thwart them before they even know what is going on, he commands Loki to take them apart when they are at their weakest. Loki puts together a Cabal (probably what they are going to be called) of their enemies to take them out once and for all. This would be a good time to re-introduce Red Skull, as well as a proper Mandarin (Sorry Jollem, no Trevor Slattery ...but I'm sure he will make a cameo appearance). Rounding out those three should be Abomination or The Leader. I think Klaw fits in well here. Perhaps have a version of Ultron (who somehow survived) that is less quippy take out the Lang and Van-Dyne. There are plenty of villains alive to form a team. The plan would be a bit like Siege where they isolate and take out the remaining Avengers one by one.
Marvel Cheats to Bring the Family Together
While most of this are hopes mixed with some predictions, this is the biggest hope and pipe dream ...but not completely out of the realm of possibility. I think that Marvel is going to, somehow, cheat Jackman into the movie. No, probably not as Wolverine because they can't use Wolverine. As far as I know, there is nothing wrong with them casting him as someone else. Also, by that point, he would be finished with his obligations to Fox, so he could presumably burn his bridge if he wanted to. Though I cannot imagine anyone staying mad at Jackman for too long. While him as Wolvie would be great, I think just giving him a nod in some way would be good too. Like acknowledge that he was a big part of Marvel's growth to even get this point. Also, throw in Tobey Maguire and Wesley Snipes cameos while we are on that subject. Who could Jackman play? Would it be just a guy or a hero? I don't know. It would just be a nice nod.
I will see you soon with part 2!
