Thanos' Plan Revealed
While we all know that The Mad Titan wants to get his hands on the Infinity Stones, one question many of us don't seem to have asked is why? "His goal is to re-balance the universe as he sees it," says co-writer Stephen McFeely. "So when he figures out that the Infinity Stones could do this for him at the snap of a finger, that becomes his main goal."
A Scene With 30+ Characters
There's been talk for ages of Avengers: Infinity War showcasing over 60 characters but Scarlett Johansson has confirmed that she shot at least one scene where there was around 32 of them all on set at the same time. That's an unprecedented number and a sure fire sign that this will be the biggest Marvel movie of all-time.
Avengers: Age Of Ultron's Worst Scenes Finally Pay Off
Remember Thor's baffling visions in Avengers: Age of Ultron? Well, set photos for this movie have confirmed that the same architecture is going to be used here but it's also been said that those scenes may not take place on Earth, so who knows how they'll factor into this story. What we do know is that he'll be joined by Rocket Raccoon here.
A Possible Appearance From Namor The Submariner
Marvel Studios frequently beats Warner Bros.' DC Films Universe to the punch so Kevin Feige can't be overly pleased that the rival studio will debut an undersea hero before them. However, in what may be a response to Aquaman's big screen debut, rumour has it that Namor the Submariner will finally join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in this movie.
Quicksilver Will Return From The Dead
Quicksilver sacrificed himself to save Hawkeye in Avengers: Age of Ultron and despite the fact he was gunned down and very clearly dead, there have been numerous reports that he'll return in this movie. How? Well, it could be because he has a healing factor or the fact that his powers are linked to the Infinity Stones. Take this one with a pinch of salt for the time being, though.
The Return Of The Ancient One And Yondu?
A standee featuring some brand new promo art surfaced earlier this year and as well as offering a new look at characters like Thanos, Groot, and Spider-Man, both The Ancient One and Yondu could also be seen. Some fans speculated that this was just a random assemblage of heroes and villains but it's every bit as likely that both characters could return in some capacity here!
Iron Man's Amazing New Suit
Tony Stark has yet another new armour in Avengers: Infinity War but some leaked promo art revealed that it has way more capabilities than previous iterations. For starters, it has wings which will no doubt be used while the hero is travelling through space, while his repulsor beams appear to have been swapped for an entire arm cannon. That will come in handy against Thanos!
The Return Of Mjolnir?
A photo from the set of the movie featured Mjolnir and that's obviously led to speculation that the God of Thunder will somehow regain his hammer to take the fight to Thanos.
It's Going To Be Marvel's Longest Movie To Date
According to the Russo Brothers, Avengers: Infinity War is on course to be Marvel's longest movie to date at a whopping two and a half plus hours. That's to be expected when pretty much every character will be making an appearance, though!
Thor And The Guardians
In Thor: Ragnarok, [Spoiler Alert], the God of Thunder flees the destroyed Asgard alongside Loki, Hulk, Valkyrie, Heimdall, and Korg but the mid-credits scene features Thanos' ship arriving and looming under their vessel. This no doubt goes some way in explaining how Thor winds up floating through space but what becomes of his friends and fellow Asgardians?
It Has A $1 Billion Budget
Well, sort of. Avengers: Infinity War and its currently untitled sequel have been shot back to back and one report claimed that the two movies boast a production budget of over $1 billion. That means this instalment alone has cost Marvel Studios a whopping $500 million, so Disney is clearly under the belief that bringing all these heroes together will pay off in a big way at the box office.
Captain Marvel Won't Appear
Kevin Feige recently confirmed that Captain Marvel will lead into Avengers 4, so while we may get some hints about the presence of Carol Danvers somewhere out in the cosmos, Carol Danvers is unlikely to make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut here.
War In Wakanda
The leaked trailer showed Black Panther fighting off alien invaders alongside Steve Rogers and with a number of T'Challa's supporting cast confirmed to appear here, it could be that one of the Infinity Stones is indeed being hidden somewhere in Wakanda.
No More Romance For The Hulk And Black Widow?
Scarlett Johansson has indicated in an interview that the reunion for The Hulk and Black Widow may not be quite what some fans are hoping for as she was "devastated" shooting their scenes together.
Iron Man May Get His Arc Reactor Back
In the leaked trailer for Avengers: Infinity War, Iron Man didn't seem to really fare all that well in his battle with Thanos. That could explain why a number of set photos have point to the hero getting his Arc Reactor back after undergoing surgery to remove it in Iron Man 3. The question is, will it be powered by alien tech?
Black Panther Is Getting A New Look
The latest trailer for Black Panther showed T'Challa's suit sporting a purple glow but some leaked Avengers: Infinity War promo art confirmed that the Wakandan hero gets a "Glow Suit" which is almost every bit as purple as it is black, a startling new look for the hero!
It Takes Place Four Years After The Events Of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2
James Gunn has confirmed that the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 after-credits scene featuring Adolescent Groot takes place during the events of Avengers: Infinity War and is actually happening four years after that sequel took place. That's a pretty significant time jump for this team.
Nebula Gets An Unexpected Ally
"I know who her new BFF is, and I can’t tell you," actress Karen Gillan revealed in an interview earlier this year. "I can’t. I promise you it’s brilliant and unexpected and so good." She's pictured alongside Iron Man on the Comic-Con poster so it's possible that those two will form a friendship!
Why Thanos Isn't Wearing Armour
Something many fans have noticed in the promo art and posters for Avengers: Infinity War is the fact Thanos isn't wearing any armour. Asked for an explanation, the movie's directors revealed that the power of the Infinity Gauntlet means the Mad Titan simply no longer feels the need to protect himself; he's just that damn powerful now!
Thor Is Getting A New Weapon
With Mjolnir destroyed in Thor: Ragnarok, it's been obvious for a while now that the God of Thunder is going to need a new weapon. Chris Hemsworth confirmed as much in a recent interview and concept art points to him wielding Jarnbjorn, an axe which can cut through Celestial armour in the comic books!
We're Getting A Mixture Of Earth And Space
When co-director Joe Russo was recently asked about how much of Avengers: Infinity War will take place on Earth and in outer space, he replied: "A good amount. It’s a lot of different narratives driving towards each other. A lot of different characters, so you have to tell a lot of story. And it’s a good mix between space and Earth." So, a pretty perfect balance then!
Who Is Peter Dinklage Playing?
That's a question we still don't have the answer to but some photos of the actor which surfaced shortly after he'd been cast showd him with bright red hair, something many fans believe to be confirmation that he'll play Pip the Troll and could ultimately meet up with Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Loki And The Tesseract
In The Avengers, The Other made it clear that Loki would pay if he didn't deliver the Tesseract to Thanos. The God of Mischief failed but looks set to make good on that in Infinity War as the leaked trailer showed the villain seemingly delivering the powerful Infinity Stone of The Mad Titan.
A Familiar Composer
The Russo Brothers have enlisted a familiar composer for Avengers: Infinity War as Alan Silvestri will start working on the score next January. However, he's been lucky enough to see footage from the movie and describes it as being "everything we could have hoped for."
We May Be Getting Some Flashbacks
Avengers: Infinity War will see Thanos dispatching his children - The Black Order - to find the Infinity Stones. Nebula and Gamora are also his children and Karen Gillan has indicated that we'll find out more about the former's past, a sign that we may get flashbacks to when the Mad Titan abducted and created these living weapons.
Hela Stands Side By Side With Thanos
While the events of Thor: Ragnarok don't really seem to point to Hela making an appearance in this movie, various comments from Marvel producers have led to fans thinking that she could return here and there have been plenty of rumours about her taking Death's place alongside the Mad Titan.
It's Going To Be A Heist Movie
Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have revealed that Avengers: Infinity War will essentially be a heist movie as Thanos finally gets his sh*t together and manages to stay one step ahead of Earth's Mightiest Heroes and gathers the Infinity Stones one by one while they pursue him.
The Hulkbuster Returns
The Hulkbuster armour was first introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron but the leaked trailer for the movie confirmed that it will make its return here. It was only a brief shot but it looked as if Tony Stark may have been using it to do battle with Thanos' army.
The Avengers Will Reassemble
Paul Bettany confirmed earlier this year that we can expect to see the divided Avengers put their differences aside in short order as the Sokovia Accords will pale in comparison to the threat posed to Earth by Thanos. That probably means Iron Man will be calling Captain America on that cell phone fairly early on in proceedings.
"Everybody Dies!"
Well, that's according to Mark Ruffalo, anyway. At Comic-Con, the actor seemingly let slip the fact that pretty much every hero will die in the movie, something which does actually make sense if you've read the Infinity Gauntlet comic book...
The Hulk Makes A New Friend
During a recent interview to promote the release of Thor: Ragnarok, Mark Ruffalo confirmed that we'll see the Green Goliath cross paths with Rocket Raccoon and that the duo will strike up an unexpected friendship. That's definitely going to be a fun pairing!
The Debut Of Silk
Tiffany Espensen played Cindy in Spider-Man: Homecoming but it's since been reported that she may actually be "Cindy Moon," a character from the comic books better known as Silk. Revealing that she too has spider powers would certainly shake the wall-crawler's sequel up in a big way but it does seem somewhat unlikely!
Peggy Carter Returns
The elderly Peggy Carter was killed off in Captain America: Civil War but an Instagram post from the actress in Atlanta has led to widespread speculation that she'll be back for Avengers: Infinity War.
Benedict Cumberbatch Won't Be Replaced By A Stand In
Some time ago, there were reports that most of Benedict Cumberbatch's scenes would have to be filmed a stand-in because of the actor's busy schedule but he's since debunked that and has been spotted on set a number of times.
Valkyrie Will Return
The press tour for Thor: Ragnarok sadly didn't deliver any major Avengers: Infinity War reveals but we do know that Tessa Thompson will return as Valkyrie as she was spotted arriving on set quite some time ago.
Spider-Man Will Only Have a Very Minor Role
Peter Parker may have a fancy new suit in Avengers: Infinity War but it's already been confirmed that his screentime will only be around the same as Captain America: Civil War. That means he's unlikely to have a huge amount of screentime so here's hoping the Russos make it count.
We're Getting A Lot Of Characters And Unexpected Meetings
According to directors Joe and Anthony Russo, "There are more surprises packed into this film than any of the others. Part of that is character interactions, new interesting characters, characters that have made small appearances that are really getting fleshed out in this film." So, regardless of who your favourite is, it sounds like you'll be happy!
Thanos' Black Order Is Made Up Of His Four Children
We learned at Comic-Con that Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, The Ebony Maw, and Black Dwarf (renamed Cull Obsidian) are. like Gamora and Nebula, the "children" of Thanos. We still don't know who's playing each of them but various set photos have shown them going after heroes like Doctor Strange and The Vision.
Red Skull Is Resurrected
The Red Skull "died" in Captain America: The First Avenger when he got his hands on the Tesseract but the prevailing theory since then has been that he may be somehow trapped inside that. As a result, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive about the possibility he could return here and comments from Samuel L. Jackson semi-confirmed that a while back.
The Vision Becomes Human
Photos from the set of Avengers: Infinity War showed The Vision kissing the Scarlet Witch, something which shouldn't surprise anyone who's ever read the comics. However, he was in human form at the time and that's led to speculation that losing the Infinity Stone will render him powerless as opposed to killing him or deactivating the android until it can be regained.
Spider-Man's Taken Out Early On
As we've mentioned, Spider-Man is only going to have a very small role in Avengers: Infinity War but the leaked trailer showed him apologising to Iron Man after seemingly falling in battle. While he's obviously not going to die, the wall-crawler being taken out of action in an intense battle and being sent home to recover seems likely.
Agent Coulson's Return?
As far as The Avengers are concerned, Phil Coulson is dead and gone. However, the latest season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. wrapped up with Coulson heading into outer space and that's gone some way in supporting otherwise flimsy reports that he'll finally make his return in Infinity War.
No Nick Fury
Despite the fact that Avengers: Infinity War will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Marvel Studios, the man who helped start it all when he told Tony Stark about the "Avengers Initiative" will not be making an appearance here according to Samuel L. Jackson.
Adolescent Groot Gets A Mentor
Motion-capture performer Terry Notary recently revealed that Groot will come of age in Avengers: Infinity War and that he's going to find a mentor to look up to and model himself after. Chances are that's going to be a member of The Avengers and many fans believe that it could be Spider-Man given their closeness in age and the fact that they'll both be able to swing around the place.
Spider-Man's New Suit And Spider-Sense
The leaked trailer for Avengers: Infinity War confirmed that Peter Parker will finally show off his Spider-Sense, something many fans weren't happy to see missing from Spider-Man: Homecoming. The new suit Tony Stark offered the youngster at the end of that movie is also going to come into play here.
Captain America No More!
As we saw in the Comic-Con poster for Avengers: Infinity War, Steve Rogers is now rocking a beard and his Captain America costume no longer has any reference to that mantle or Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Surely Iron Man will give him the shield back at some point in this movie, though?
We'll Be Saying Goodbye To At Least Some Characters
A number of cast members may have been confirmed as returning in Avengers 4 but it seems Infinity War will be the end of the line for some heroes. Co-director Joe Russo said that, "I believe that everything has to have an end at some point in order for it to have value," while Kevin Feige has reiterated that by saying that not even Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor are safe.
The First Trailer
We may have got a leaked version of the trailer at Comic-Con (you can read more about that by clicking here) but Kevin Feige has confirmed that it's coming before the end of the year and chances are it will be attached to Star Wars: The Last Jedi this December.
Captain America Lives!
Robert Downey Jr. recently shared a set photo from Avengers 4 confirmed that Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Scott Lang, and Natasha Romanoff will all return for the Infinity War follow-up, so we now know that they'll make it out of this movie alive. Probably.
