AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Portraits Reveal The Stunning Final Costume For Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch
A pair of never-before-seen character portraits of Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch have surfaced online, featuring a new look at her final costume from Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron. Check it out!
Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff became a quick fan-favorite after her debut in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron, and while her rookie costume was a far cry from the Scarlet Witch's traditional red suit from the comics, we did get to see Olsen sport something considerably more classic in the film's final scene at the New Avengers Facility when Captain America (Chris Evans) assembles his new team.
However, outside of that blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance, that costume was never seen again as the Russo Brothers opted to go in a different direction with her look in Captain America: Civil War. In an 2016 interview with Vulture, 3x Academy Award-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky explained the Russos' reasoning behind not letting Wanda go full superhero just yet, "In the beginning, we did have sketches generated from Marvel where Wanda looked more superhero, and the brothers kept saying, ‘But she’s not a superhero yet. She’s still finding herself, she’s a young girl.’ So they asked me to take those sketches and redo it, to make it a real coat, make it wearable. We wanted to make them look like real garments."
With the Scarlet Witch also sporting a new costume in Avengers: Infinity War, it seems highly unlikely we'll ever see her return to this gem of an outfit, but, fortunately, thanks to the internet, a pair of never-before-seen character portraits have surfaced online, revealing easily our best look yet at Olsen wearing the stunning scarlet suit.
