In 10 days, the Marvel Cinematic Universe's culmination of a decade of epic, groundbreaking stories will finally be released!

As you can imagine, a movie featuring dozens of characters of vastly different sizes, can present certain challenges in terms of shot composition. The expanded IMAX aspect ratio of 1.9:1 gives the filmmakers the freedom to create a more immersive storytelling experience. In fact, having experimented with the format in prior films like Doctor Strange, the entirety of Avengers: Infinity War will utilize the IMAX screen to its fullest potential.

Check out the featurette below and let us know if you will watch the film on IMAX. Avengers: Infinity War will be released on April 27th 2018.

As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment - the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.

Don’t have IMAX in my city. The closest one is just too far away. Now I feel bad for not watching it in IMAX

I’m just going to watch on a normal screen. Hope it doesn’t make it any less epic

@Nelemico2000 - It won't. I actually enjoyed Black Panther and Civil War in regular format more than in IMAX.

In 2012, screenrant told me To go see the avengers in IMAX 3d and so I did and from then on I haven't seen any other comic book movie in no other format.

But honestly, I never pay attention to the aspect ratios. I just like that the screen is bigger and the sound is better.

I always read you guys talking about the aspect ratios and YouTube videos like honest trailer so I go into the movies saying I'll look but I never do. I don't see how anyone can be into the movie and pay attention.

@Solarkalel85 - it really is. In a way, I regret watching it in that format because going to see regular movies seem incomplete.

The only thing I don't like is the 3d glasses get irritating after a while and the 3d before the movie be on point but during the movie it don't be that good

This movie is unprecebted in scope in almost every aspect, the cast, the seamless crossovers between franchises, the threat, the collaboration between filmmakers, producers and higher ups at Marvel, of corse it just so happens to also be the first ever film shot entirely on Imax, this movie is going to be insane

That IMAX aspect ratio looks great. Honestly...I've been saying over and over again I'm quitting CBMS. But this film I think I might make an exception just to see it in IMAX.

Ah yes, Its necessary for me to see a little bit more of the wall above tony starks head.

I'm sorry, but the imax formatting is a waste of money imo. It doesn't add anything and kind of takes me out a bit when the shot you want isn't centered anymore as it is with standard formatting.

I get to see slightly above Thanos's head in the shot. I'm sorry not worth imax pricing for that. But I do hope people who see it in imax do enjoy it.

Just bought my IMAX 3d tickets yesterday. Unfortunately, all the theatres are booked for the first three days here so I'm having to see it on April 29. Can't fricking wait! Also, I had my interview at a movie theatre today as well. It was decent. Hopefully, I get the job.

@MarDCel - Good luck! Woukd you start before the movie came out if you got the job?

@Nerderer - Doesn't seem like it. The interviewer asked me if I wanted to start on the 27th April but then she quickly realized it'll be overwhelming for me because that's the Infinity War's premiere date! Lol, she then said if I get hired, I can start at beginning of May.

Does Dolby theater use imax sized screens? I was told it's a lot better than imax.
DoubleD
DoubleD - 4/17/2018, 3:44 PM
@BiggerLuke - YES and it blows away regular IMAX. Picture is UHD, sound is mind blowing, and seats feel like they vibrate.

Dolby theater is the only way I see all these big block busters
BiggerLuke
BiggerLuke - 4/17/2018, 4:05 PM
@DoubleD - Ok. Great. I booked tickets for dolby cinema for me and a couple of friends. Seats are little high for my taste, but the big screen should make up for that.
