Has Robert Downey Jr. Just Dropped A MAJOR SPOILER For AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR?
Robert Downey Jr. recently shared a photo from the set of Avengers: Infinity War, but has the actor inadvertently revealed a huge spoiler in regards to Tony Stark's fate? Take a look after the jump!
Earlier this week, we brought you a photo showing Robert Downey Jr. alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, and Mark Ruffalo. All but the latter were decked out in new costumes for Avengers: Infinity War, but there's one very interesting details we missed at the time which is now generating an awful lot of speculation online. Have you spotted it yet? Take a closer look at Tony Stark.
Downey Jr.'s top has a circular hole in it right where his arc reactor would be...had he not had it removed at the end of Iron Man 3! This isn't the first photo we've seen from the set which appears to tease the return of the device which helped keep those pieces of shrapnel from Tony's heart, but it leads us to wonder what might have happened to force the hero to once again power his suits through his chest. Could it be that Thanos' initial attack on Earth will leave Iron Man mortally wounded?
It's something which would certainly make a lot of sense. Downey Jr.'s contract is nearing its end and him slowly dying from his wounds would open the door to a last-minute heroic sacrifice as we bid farewell to him. It's hard to say for sure, though, especially as there are so many possible explanations.
