Jeremy Renner Confirms Hawkeye Will Return For AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, But That May Be Bad News For M:I 6
Jeremy Renner has confirmed that Hawkeye will be one of the many heroes heading into action against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, but what does that mean for his Mission: Impossible 6 role?
Well, I guess we can forget Clint Barton heading back to his family home following the events of Captain America: Civil War! During a recent interview with Collider, the Arrival star confirmed that he'll be back as Hawkeye for Avengers: Infinity War, but the downside is the fact that the movie's shooting schedule (it's filming back to back with Avengers 4) could stop him starring in Mission: Impossible 6.
"I’m not sure what’s happening!" Renner told the site of the Christopher McQuarrie helmed sixth instalment. "I know that they’re really wanting to get it going, and I haven’t spoken to Tom about ultimately where it’s at. I know that there might be some conflict with schedules, so I’m not sure what’s going to happen. ‘Avengers’ is going to eat up a lot of next year - gladly b-ut I certainly hope that won’t get in the way of Tom and I and the gang getting back together, because I’d love to."
The actor didn't seem best pleased about the way his character was handled in Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, so it will be interesting to see how he factors into the franchise moving forward. Bear in mind that he was being groomed to take over the franchise from Tom Cruise at one point, so chances are he won't be too keen on coming back for what essentially boils down to a glorified cameo!
We do at least know that Hawkeye will have a role in Avengers: Infinity War anyway, but what good can the archer do against a villain like Thanos? That's something we'll get to find out come May 2018.
