Josh Brolin Confirms He Will Return As Thanos In AVENGERS 4

While this should come as no surprise (and may even be the least surprising news of the day), Josh Brolin has confirmed that he will indeed be back for seconds as Thanos in the still-untitled Avengers 4!

Rumors began circulating over the weekend suggesting that Thanos might just be a one-and-done villain, only appearing in Avengers: Infinity War before bowing out as the Skrulls take over as the main baddies in the still-untitled Avengers 4, and well, star Josh Brolin has thankfully dispelled those unsubstantiated rumors himself by officially announcing his return for the upcoming sequel, which is expected to begin filming any day now.

Brolin is currently in the midst of filming 20th Century Fox's Deadpool 2 in Vancouver, so it'll be interesting to see how he juggles the two filming schedules over the next few weeks, although if he has one thing going in his favor, it's that his role as Thanos is entirely mo-cap, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find a workaround until Deadpool 2 wraps as Avengers 4 is expected to film through December.

@BlindWedjat - I mean was Avengers 4 going to have a new villain or something?

@SonOfAGif - No, there was just some stupid people who thought they knew somethin and said that these two are totally different movies and doesn't have any ties to another.

@SonOfAGif @FinniishFlash - OMG, that was getting so annoying people thinking that Thanos wasn't going to be the Main Villain of both movies. I kept seeing all these theories, and i was like SMH

I think the ONLY reason to set CAPTAIN MARVEL in the 90's with the SKRULLS, then put that movie between INFINITY WAR 1+2 is because the SKRULLS are going to come into play (for real) in Avengers 4. But, at no point did I think Marvel would be dumb enough to attempt to wrap up Thanos in one film and then Make another movie right away for no real reason, that was a 180 flip.

People were weirdly acting as if Avengers 4 was gonna be a completely separate movie after the Part 2 was taken off the title.

Since the Skrulls are confirmed for Captain Marvel, it seems everybody thinks they will be the big bad for Avengers 4. I always thought Thanos would return for 4. The Russos confirmed that the Avengers 4 title was spoiler for IW, I figured that it might have something to do with Thanos getting what he wants in IW, only to be beaten in 4 by the (new) avengers. Maybe infinity watch is the name

@malsemarcel -

i think they're going to do a spin on Secret Wars - either Shooter's or Hickman's - with Thanos as a stand-in for The Beyonder or God Doom.

@malsemarcel - possibilities
INFINITY GAUNTLET
SECRET WARS (JUST AN INTRO)
MAD TITAN

but in the back of my head i keep wondering if HOUSE OF M is a possibility, to turn SCARLET WITCH into a PHOENIX type storyline

He already said this in that D23 interview.

He said: No I don't have all the stones in this movie (Avengers 3) and I don't know yet how the next one will go.

So you can bet your ass that he finds/gets all the stones and kills thousands of people including Avengers/Guardians.
