Second AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Trailer Becomes Third Biggest Debut Ever, Setting Another Views Record

The hype surrounding Avengers: Infinity War continues to grow as the second trailer for the highly-anticipated superhero team up racks up the third most views ever in 24 hours, and setting a new record.

When it comes to trailers, no one does it better than Disney. The second trailer for Avengers: Infinity War debuted last week and while it didn't break the views record set by its predecessor, but it did set a record of its own.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the second trailer for Avengers: Infinity War amassed 179 million views in its first 24 hours. That makes it the third-biggest trailer debut in history, behind the first Infinity War trailer, which racked up 230 million views in its first 24 hours back in November. The first trailer for New Line and Warner Bros.' It is currently in second place with 197 million views in its first day.

As the THR points out, it's commonplace for a second trailer to garner fewer viewers than the first, as fans tend to skip watching the more in-depth trailer to avoid any possible spoilers.

But while the second Infinity War trailer couldn't dethrone its own movie's original trailer, it did break another record owned by Disney. With its 179 million views, it's the biggest release ever for a second trailer, supplanting Beauty and the Beast (128 million views).

So what are all of these views amount to? How about Infinity War smashing pre-sale records, becoming AMC theater's biggest-selling superhero movie after 72 hours, tripling the record held by Marvel's Black Panther. Last week, it broke Fandango's pre-sale record (also previously held by Black Panther) in just 6 hours. So, yeah, fans are pretty excited for this one.

Avengers: Infinity War opens in theaters on April 27.
