Stan Lee Has Shot Cameos For At Least Three More Movies Set In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

We've been hearing multiple reports about problems in Stan Lee's personal life and his health sadly appears to be failing but it's now confirmed that he's filmed cameos for at least three Marvel movies.

Back when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was shot, James Gunn filmed a number of cameos for Stan "The Man" Lee and it now appears as if the Russo Brothers have done at least a few more of them.

During a recent interview, Avengers: Infinity War co-director Joe Russo talked about working with the comic book creator on the set of the movie and how he and Anthony went about shooting a series of cameos for Lee (which, sadly, could be among his last given those upsetting reports about his health).

"So, Stan, typically we try to get him out — he doesn’t love to fly — so we try to get him out for his cameos around the same time," the filmmaker explained. "So if we have other movies shooting on the same lot that we’re on, for
instance Ant-Man 2 or Avengers 4, we group his cameos together and then move him from one set to the next and kind of get him through his cameos in one day."

Based on Russo's remarks, it appears as if we can expect to see Lee in Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and The Wasp, and Avengers 4 (and Captain Marvel too in all likelihood). What his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe looks like beyond that remains to be seen but we'll be sure to keep you updated.

Does anyone think Marvel might try to Tarkin Stan Lee's cameos after he passes?

@Kevwebsz - Nope.

@Kevwebsz - Possibly, but i think they will just do what Netflix does and puts cameos in the backgrounds, like on pictures and the like.

@Kevwebsz - If they do it, once, and officially make him Uatu The Watcher that would be cool. or better yet, use his likeness for the character Infinity, making him the embodiment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe

@Kevwebsz -
I would rather that the Watcher's decide to leave, with Stan Lee, to go explore throughout time and the multiverse at the end of Avengers 4.

This would then leave Uatu as the only Watcher left in the main universe for future usage while also being a nice send-off for Stan Lee. He's not dead or randomly showing up for cameos - instead he's off exploring the multiverse.

Cutting them off at A4 would be a good place to stop them from happening. I'm not saying "now would be a good time to kick the bucket Stan" but it'd be good if it were in a significant, end-point movie rather than just some random Ant-Man and The Wasp or something.

They should just take a couple of days to a week, Get Stan Lee in front of a green screen and film like 30-50 cameos all at once. That way we’ll never be without him in a movie :). We love ya Stan. You started this all and you deserve to be immortalized.

Hey @Mrcool210

Absolutely not being a dickhead but I’ve found GIPHY links don’t always work especially via their site so I’ve been using TENOR instead. But in saying that TENOR may not be viewable by some users either.

And people think Iron-Man and Captain America are getting to old to act or make cameos.

Lets just kill the both off because their getting to old.

Marvel isn't that stupid.

Samuel L Jackson is still acting :)

@DoubleD

They won't be playing the characters forever. People move on. Characters will be rebooted. Not right away obviously.

Anyone else think it would be cool to have a scene from Captian Marvel set around this scene from 1995's Mallrats?

@polarkyle - for us yeah, that's would be great. but I think hes the kind of man that was happy and content with the fantastic four movies that we got. hes had all of his creations on the big screen. So I think we don't have to worry about him missing out. :)

A post-credit scene of Avengers 4 should have the Watchers making him officially one of them and them portaling out to explore the multiverse. His cameo in GOTG2 could then be seen as an interview of some sort to officially join their ranks.

or if you want comedy

Avengers gathered (Avengers introducing GOTG to shawarma perhaps) then Stan comes up to them saying "Well it's been nice working with you all but I'm off to another assignment out in the multiverse" and have them all look confused wondering who the hell he is.

They need to have Stan film some final words, hold onto it until whatever film comes out around his passing, and put them in the mid-credit scene.

Not really a big fan of the cameos, especially the speaking ones take you right out of the movie.
