...

I don't know. This film has me really pumped, and I'm preordering tickets for it really soon, but there's something about this that's off.

It's REALLY corny and cheesy, from what I've seen. All the dialogue sounds childish, and the action scenes, unfortunately, look Bay-ish.

Don't get me wrong, it looks epic, but there's also a lot of cheese packed onto that. Maybe I'm being spoiled by Nolan, being a Nolanite and everything, but this just looks like a popcorn flick, and I want something more with it.

There is a bit of new footage at the end. It stops just a few seconds longer than we've seen before.

See it doesn't show Black Widow and it does show a bit more of Iron Man.

BTW I didn't break down. I just watched the end there to clear up all that up for my bro TheIrishAvenger

Something such as this would be perfect.

@Spidey91

Well, excuse the Dark Knight for actually thinking!

I'm not trying to diss The Avengers, I just want to see more than a Michael Bay movie with this one. I loved all of Marvel Studios films (even Iron Man 2) so I wanted to see this one take it to new heights. If Thanos is in it, it probably could, because there's so much you can do with that character. But right now, it looks kinda Bay-ish. BUT I do think it will be really good and I can't wait.

You can't compare Batman to the Avengers. Nolan hasn't created anything new with Batman, he made a dark, brooding film about a dark, brooding character. But he can't direct action sequences. But yeah, great films, none the less.

And 'looking' like a Bay film isn't insulting, he makes brilliant looking films, the problem is he can't follow that up with any substance, a good story etc. And this will have those, Whedon has had 60 years worth of material to work with.

Think about it, the conflict within the team, for leadership, each others motives, having the brother of the enemy on the team, having an uncontrolable monster. This isn't going to be as 'smart' as Batman, but it isn't trying to be, and never will.
BruceLeroy

Honestly people, I think we have a good movie on our hands.

If this movie was garbage, Marvel wouldn't have this movie being premiered(April 11th) so early. It would kill a ton of buzz and momentum this film is gaining. They must be really confident in the product.

I find it amazing that just because we know there is an alien army/Avengers battle in the middle of New York in this film, people say it is Bay-ish. From the looks of the footage we've seen so far, there will be all sorts of sub plots going on throughout the movie, not to mention a larger one that we have no info on at this point.

The Justice League and The Avengers are the only Super Groups that have major knock down, drag outs in broad daylight, in the middle of cities, on a regular basis, in the comics. They are both, the heavy hitters and public ally loved heroes in their respected companies. An Avengers movie without a scene like that would be heavily lacking. Bay was not the first, he won't be the last, and he holds no copy write on mass-destruction scenes on film.

Or should nobody ever include another in any film, ever?
Asterisk
Asterisk - 3/17/2012, 8:51 AM
Again, I'm not doubting it will be good. But even Feige compared it to Dark of The Moon. It's just my personal tastes that I like Nolan's films better. NOT HATING on Marvel at all, but it's just personal tastes.

And yes, Bay's films can look visually really good...for about 30 minutes. I mean, Transformers (all 3 of them) looked like a jumbled mess. All the Decepticons were this gun metal gray, and have you noticed to fight they always grapple? It gets really annoying because you can't tell which robot is which half of the time, and sometimes you can't tell how many are on screen. But, whatever, that rant's for another day. To sum it all up, I'm hoping Avengers does something new.

Forget the whole thing about Avengers looking "Bay-Ish". It's BATTLESHITS that you need to be concerned about.

If there is a third Avengers trailer, they NEED to steer away from, or add to, this central event they keep displaying of the invasion. It's in the trailers and all the promo art. It makes it look like that's all there is; the alien invasion on the city.

When I saw John Carter (good film, critics smoke crack) they showed the Avengers (computer videos do it NO justice) and BATTLESHIP trailers; The look and tone could only be differentiated by the heroes themselves. From a business stand point, you want to separate yourself from a potential flop, or other film in general they may have similar structure.

Whatever the A-Team is doing before this invasion, which I'm starting to believe happens as the climax, they need to show THAT. I'm sure the film isn't everyone sitting around until the army shows up. A CBM is an action movie. Something else has to be going on with the heroes besides this attack.

@Asterisk

Not questioning your taste mate, i just don't think it's fair comparing the two, would we be comparing them if they weren't coming out in the same year?

this will be closer to the Comic's than Nolans though. I don't mean that in a bad way, but Nolan has created a Universe where Killer Croc and Clayface for example won't exist, did it well though.

Yeah, the Transformers themselves looked shit, but i mean the action scenes, like the latest one where Chicago gets destroyed, that looked good. That's what Feige meant, i reckon. Plus that took what, over a Billion, i'm sure he's hoping for that too.

Yeah, I guess you're right, but I can't help but compare them because everyone is doing it. I'm too mainstream. And I am glad they're following the comics to a tee with this one. Whedon is an excellent writer and knows his comics. His Astonishing X-Men run is actually my favorite story from Marvel.

well,I can understand from where the Bay comparison comes from,even if it's only on the surface (Whedon knows how to portray characters,unlike Michael Bay).

I didn't meant to be rough. if so,I apologize.
