At least ten companies have been credited for contributing stunning visual effects to Marvel's The Avengers Super Hero team up of a lifetime. And among them is Legacy Effects, formerly Stan Winston Studios, who've partnered with Marvel Studios once again for Iron Man's third outing. And now that the film has been released, one of their digital sculptors, Josh Herman, has released some of his work via CGHub, including a Hulk maquette.

I got the chance to work on The Hulk maquette for The Avengers. I worked closely with Charlie Wen and Ryan Meinerding on this since they started the initial sculpts. I ended up fusing them together and adding some finishing touches to it.

This is a practical maquette that was made from my model. It was painted and put together by the fantastic team at Legacy Effects. It's a 1/2 scale maquette and stands about 3 feet tall. Probably one of my favorite days seeing it all put together.

Marvel Studios presents in association with Paramount Pictures “Marvel’s The Avengers”--the super hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel super heroes Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

Starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, & directed by Joss Whedon from a screenplay by Joss Whedon, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since. Prepare yourself for an exciting event movie, packed with action and spectacular special effects, when “Marvel’s The Avengers” assemble on May 4, 2012. The film is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. In addition to "Marvel's The Avengers," Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including "Iron Man 3" on May 3, 2013!; and “Thor 2” on November 15, 2013.

It may be the best hulk yet but hulk needs a little more control or restraint to be perfect . If he is going to be in his own movies he needs to be a bit calmer and talk a bit more because when he talks he can be as funny as hell . Hulk needs to be a bit more super hero and a bit less monster to be perfect . Remember if he has less control and causes too much destruction he will be kicked off the Avengers and I don't want to see him kicked off I want to see him in many more Avengers movies .

I loved how he was in space and the thrusters blew off, that was a nice little add on. And the shoulder missles that blew up nearly all of those Chitauri coming from the portal was amazing. But Hulk man.... His hair, the grey sideburns, sweat dripping from his face and traps, damn amazing, I will never get tired of this movie!

REALLY hope for a new Hulk movie!! Ruffalo was outstanding and did the role justice. Not to mention the look of the Hulk was pretty much perfect. Only thing I wish the Avengers movie had more of was Hulk. Two scenes just was not enough in my opinion...

The Hulk should've been taller and heavily ripped. I don't care what the comics say.

I just remebered that the weapons on the mark vii fell off when he used them, and that was by far the best Hulk to date. An all around fantastic movie.

How come Loki didn't just run away when all three of them were fighting in the forest? He was left completely unguarded and could have just ran away.

Also, what was the point of allowing himself to get caught? Was it to build more tension between them? Because if that was the case, he didn't really have to because there already was tension. Filler, plot hole?

Also, Loki's magical spell only took a hit to the head to be removed? Sounds like some waste of time that could have been used more effectively.

How in the hell did hulk know where the team was at in the fight at the end? He appears out of nowhere in his bike and just so happens to know where they were at. He had no contact with them after his incident and miraculously shows up.

There is all this talk about a world threat but the only place that gets a beat down as usual is Manhattan and the team either way end up winning. No surprise really.

How does thor come back to Earth? They still didn't explain how he got back after the portal closed in his solo film.

I think maybe a second viewing should be avoided because then you start to see many things that didn't make sense.

Ok I had to do that. I honestly don't give a shit about any of that what I stated above but had to do it. So next time any of you crazy marvelites wanna talk about tdk's flaws or the joker scene in the penthouse or anything else, then lets mention that what I asked above.

see, now two can play the bullshit game.

@alexndre

1. Loki let himself be captured.
2. He let himself be captured to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers from within using the Hulk. A cool nod and wink to the original comic storyline.
3. Now this is wishy washy I agree.
4. The Hulk and Thor knew where the Avengers were since there was a BIG FREAKING PORTAL WITH A MILLION ALIENS POURING THROUGH in the sky right above them.
5. Stark tower was in Manhattan, duh.
6. Thor came back to earth thanks to Odin using dark magic and could only go back to Asgard when he retrieved the tesseract. Loki mentions all this before Thor and Iron Man.
So, I recommend a second viewing since you seem to have missed a few things.

Those are pretty awesome. Seeing the CG render of the Hulk makes me want to see a new Hulk video game.

And Iron Man definitely deserves a great video game adaption.

At least the Hulk had IH: Ultimate Destruction. Best Hulk video game ever!

@Alexandre

Also, Stark even tells Cap that Loki can't begin the invasion until he takes out the Avengers because they just won't stand by. That's why the mothership and the rest of the alien armada never cross over. the end fight was aimed at the Avengers!

first thing, loki didnt need to destroy shield if he was so confident of his master plan.

second. destroy the avengers from within?? i thought it was established in the film that loki wanted to overpower them in a very public way so as to validate himself as ruler of Earth not from within.

"4. The Hulk and Thor knew where the Avengers were since there was a BIG FREAKING PORTAL WITH A MILLION ALIENS POURING THROUGH in the sky right above them."

dude, your speculating. not once is someone supposed to assume that. that question will remain unanswered.

"6. Thor came back to earth thanks to Odin using dark magic and could only go back to Asgard when he retrieved the tesseract. Loki mentions all this before Thor and Iron Man."

either way, it was a piece of shit way of explaining it after all the trouble thor went through in his solo film to end it with some drama.

"5. Stark tower was in Manhattan, duh."

huh? ^^
