GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Link To IRON MAN 3...And THE AVENGERS Sequel Revealed?

Possibly confirming what Iron Man 3 action figures and the ongoing Guardians of the Galaxy comic book series first hinted at, a new report may have spoiled Marvel’s Phase Two plans. Check it out!

Back in late January, tie-in Iron Man 3 toys first revealed a “Deep Space Suit” that, later, added legitimacy to a report, via Latino Review, which spoiled what the Marvel threequel’s inevitable post-credits teaser will entail. Linking the action thriller to the forthcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, additional details have surfaced possibly revealing a plot element of the latter 2014 space epic.

According to Io9 and other sources, (Spoiler Warning) Tony Stark creates the “Space Suit” especially after the Chitauri attack in The Avengers. “Crafted using a unique new metal alloy that absorbs his ARC Reactor energy signature, Tony travels into the far reaches of space to find the source of a coded SOS he receives at the end of Iron Man 3. The SOS is from a masked Star-Lord, so Tony takes off to find him (noting that, with the space armor, he's “ready this time”). Jarvis asks Tony where he's going and Tony simply replies, “I'll be back.”

After licensed Iron Man 3 toys by Hasbro & Funko revealed a strange Deep Space Suit (of armor?), speculation was bolstered that Marvel plans to have their armored avenger (and most valuable asset) join the interstellar roster of their 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy space epic; akin to the ongoing Marvel NOW! series of the same name. In addition, posted earlier today was a Q&A with Tony Stark himself, Robert Downey Jr. further alluding to the aforementioned idea. And it’s that very interview which has prompted Latino Review to unveil their latest scoop on the subject.

More than likely as early promotional efforts for Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel’s first non-sequel post-The Avengers, sources of the much-reliable Latino Review have revealed that (spoiler alert): At the end of Iron Man 3, Tony actually does go up into space to hook up with the Guardians of The Galaxy where I also hear he appears at the end of that movie as well.

UPDATE: At the request of Funko reps, we had to remove images of the Deep Space toy.

If true, we now know the gist of two after-credits sequences from Marvel’s Phase Two slate. And considering they will eventually lead up to the hotly-awaited sequel to The Avengers, perhaps this is further confirmation that the Mad Titan Thanos, Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Groot and Rocket Raccoon, of Guardians of the Galaxy, will all appear in the Joss Whedon-directed follow-up when Earth’s Mightest Heroes reassemble on the big-screen in 2015. What do do you think?

Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, “Iron Man 3” is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce & Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968. “Iron Man 3” is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures & DMG Entertainment. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing & Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee & Dan Mintz are executive producers. The film hits May 3, 2013, & is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Marvel Studios will also release “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel (title TBA) on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

very much like the upcoming guardians of the galaxy comic book.if the guardians with iron man take on thanos in the guardians of the galaxy movie, its a sort of homage to iron man 55 which featured drax the destroyer & thanos.

It'd have to be After credits scene. If it was just before credits it'd look pretty stupid. Don't think Shane Black would be all happy with the heading like that being ruined. Unless they incorporate it somehow.

And isn't Iron Man 3 meant to have a mid-credits scene and an after credits scene? Or am I just hearing thins in my head again?

Iron man in GOTG. Well...I'll let Watson do my talking

At the very most just have Tony be a cameo. If they make him the lead character or something along those lines then screw this movie.

If it's limited to after credits only then that's ok in my book.

How does he even know that they are there? does he just go up to space and find them lol It does make sense for the space suit though, because of his nuclear experience in avengers when he went to space for a few seconds and passed out

Anyone else worried about the avengers sequel? Whedon said he is going smaller not bigger. So how could you possibly have thanos AND the guardians AND the avengers running around. Not to mention two big teams. That's like what? 10 to 11 members. All needing there time to shine? I hope the guardians don't show up in avengers 2. Hell I hope thanos is merely alluded to if he isn't dealt with in the guardians movie. Let avengers 2 be more personal.

If It were to happen, my guess is that the post credit scene would be Tony meeting the Guardians at the end of the GotG movie. They would simply be connecting both ends.

No IM in GOTG, please. That would actually make the movie less interesting.
I also agree with Jollem. "I wish Marvel would stop making their comics like the movies."
They are ruining so many comics because of this garbage approach. I understand the money aspect of why they do it, but its complete and utter horsesh*t.

they wouldnt make a deep space suit for nothing..
Plus, I can see Tony really coming together on other worldly beings such as the GOTG if you guys know what I mean

Howard the duck and rocket raccoon team up! Nine foot tall green monster becomes the most popular character in the avengers, and you dont think they can pull off a gun toting talking raccoon? They do that right, then they know that they dont have to hold back ANY characters for phase three.
StarkAnthony
StarkAnthony - 1/29/2013, 5:01 PM
I really hope none of this is true. The Guardians is going to be an out there concept, to throw them into Iron Man 3 without any sort of introduction would be really weird. Iron Man should not be in GotG. They need to be their own unit, and if Iron Man is in it then he will be the central character. KEEP IRON MAN OUT OF GUARDIANS!! And if the Gaurdians are in Avengers 2, the movie will just be too big. UGGGHHH Marvel you've done so well don't screw it up now!!
