Joss Whedon 'Optimistic' About RDJ Return For THE AVENGERS 2

"As far as Robert [Downey Jr.]. I'm not in on that," said Joss about the Iron Man 3 actor's negotiations with Marvel Studios. Robert Downey Jr.'s contract to play Iron Man has been filled and currently, he's negotiating a new contract to reprise the role for another string of films. Various reports says those negotiations are not going too well and would be described as cantankerous at best. Joss added, "but I'm optimistic" that Downey will return. He quickly changed subjects, making a joke about the status of Samuel L. Jackson's return as Nick Fury in The Avengers sequel. "As far as Samuel [Jackson], I guess he could audition. I'd read him or I'd have someone read him and I'd look at the tape," quipped Whedon.

Below, are more videos with Whedon at the Gala Premiere, where he touches on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and gives a brief message to all his fans.
