Amid his lengthy Iron Man 3 talk with MTV News, Marvel Studios head, Kevin Feige, offered an encouraging update for the anticipated reassembly of The Avengers. He explains how the Shane Black-directed threequel will start laying the groundwork for the 2015 Joss Whedon-helmed sequel.
“It's still early days, but I told [Joss Whedon] after reading the first sketch outline he delivered — and there's a lot of work still to do, he has to sit down and turn this into a movie — but there are already seven things in there that are worth the price of admission alone.” Evidently unable to reveal them, Feige says those seven elements wouldn't be understood until the first forthcoming Phase Two movies are released. “I would say that the exercise of [Iron Man 3] is very much standalone, more so than any 'Iron Man' film since the first one. But because we are in Phase Two and we're heading towards another 'Avengers' movie, there's certainly a road that's being paved — you just might not notice it,” Feige said of how many ‘Avengers’ nods we'll see in the first Phase Two entry. “While you're driving on the road, not knowing where it's going, you might not realize that there are road signs and signals and lane changes that we're setting up now — they might not be readily apparent the first time you see the movie.” Regarding how Iron Man 3 will go about setting up The Avengers sequel, Feige adds, “In this one, it has less to do with any sort of larger S.H.I.E.L.D. or cosmic overlay, but much more about Tony, his frame of mind, his viewpoint and the things he wants to pursue.” About the overall Phase Two expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Feige eagerly admits that, “It's pretty exciting to be this early out and already have things that I could pitch you on in a room — if you weren't a journalist who was going to print all of this — and you would go, ‘Oh my god, that's going to be awesome.’”
Marvel Studios already describes their highly-anticipated sequel to the No. 3 highest grossing film of all time, “Marvel's The Avengers,” as another “big cinematic event.” And expected to feature the reassembly of iconic Marvel super heroes Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow & Nick Fury taking on a new unexpected enemy, new additions to the superhero team up of a lifetime are possible. Expecting reprisals from Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, and directed by Joss Whedon from a screenplay by Joss Whedon, “Marvel’s The Avengers” sequel is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since. And set for release May 1, 2015, the film is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. In addition to the sequel, Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; and “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!
