Kevin Smith Addresses The 'AVENGERS VS THE DARK KNIGHT RISES' Fight

Kevin Smith reveals his opinion on the fanboy fight over which will be better, Avengers or The Dark Knight Rises. WARNING: NSFW. Kinda.

It's official, Kevin Smith said it! In all seriousness, he's totally right. This whole fight between fans is completely ridiculous, just be happy that we're getting an Avengers movie in our lifetimes and be happy that Nolan is completing his Batman trilogy, and they're both in the same year! But The Dark Knight Rises will still be better. I've got an axe at the ready Marvelites!

Just thought I'd share this comment I found on the Avengers trailer on Youtube...

"[frick] THIS SHITTY AVENGERS MOVIE IS GONNA GET OWNED IN THE ASS BY THE DARK KNIGHT RISES! [frick] YOU MARVEL! [frick] [frick] [frick] [frick] [frick] YOU! [frick]!"

But yeah, I agree with Smith completely. My mind will likely be blown by both movies, and in their own respective ways. Avengers looks more like something that would please the movie goers and fanboys, while TDKR is bound to appeal to the critics and will likely be a better film overall.

Smith is right, both and Spider-Man will all be awesome, is ridiculous taking a side, if you take a side and bash the others, you are not a real comic book fan.

@Lucaxmen THANK YOU. I agree that you're not a real comic fan if you bash a movie because it's based on a certain company's character (no matter how good the movie is), yet praise a movie that's just as good just because it's based on another certain company's side. Total hypocrisy and foolishness.

the dark knight rises will be good but at the moment it looks the worse of the trilogy.

but i believe i will enjoy the avengers & the amazing spider-man more than the dark knight rises.

That is a dumb statement, The Avengers will be WAY better than The Dark Knight Rises...

@Lucaxmen and Paulrom

What you guys aren't understanding is as a comic fan you don't have to like every comic..that's like saying as a video game fan I should enjoy both PS3 and Xbox..No because they're different consoles. These are different movies and I really don't like the realistic approach on the Batman films..doesn't mean I dont like Batman he's pretty cool, I just dont like the Nolan films. Not everybody has to like both films like you guys.

Lmao, so [frick]ing confusing! Anyway, this was expected, I mean Kevin Smith is a big-ass Batman fan, of course he would say that. Lmao BTW, that is one of the best analogies I've ever heard of. but, all together, all around, comics wise, movie wise, merchandise wise, character wise, artisticly wise, writing wise, fanbase wise, well... #MARVELISWINNING!

Personally if I only see one CBM this year it will have to be TDKR, I have to see where that story goes and what curveballs Nolan has in store. Avengers looks great, seeing them all assembled is awesome but I have less investment in their story than for TDKR it seems very predictable, I could be wrong though

@ Paulrom
TDK connected with moviegoers AND critics. I don't see why TDKR wouldn't do the same

That "real comic fan" statement doesn't make sense because there are people who seriously only read books from one company, and what exactly is the definition of a real comic fan anyway?

"Every great magic trick consists of three parts or acts. The first part is called "The Pledge". The magician shows you something ordinary: a deck of cards, a bird or a man. He shows you this object. Perhaps he asks you to inspect it to see if it is indeed real, unaltered, normal. But of course... it probably isn't. The second act is called "The Turn". The magician takes the ordinary something and makes it do something extraordinary. Now you're looking for the secret... but you won't find it, because of course you're not really looking. You don't really want to know. You want to be fooled. But you wouldn't clap yet. Because making something disappear isn't enough; you have to bring it back. That's why every magic trick has a third act, the hardest part, the part we call "The Prestige"

As a DC boy, i'm rooting for TDKR.

As a movie goer though I am hoping both movies do well

Avengers will be better than TDKR and TDKR will be better than TASM, but I will still be midnight premiering all three because they will all be AWESOME!!!

Also, me and my friends are premiering Avengers dressed as the Justice Leauge, and TDKR dressed as the Avengers. Any suggestions for TASM?

You know one time in one my articles I posted the wrong poster of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," not realising it was the one with her nipples on show. I got reported about 6 times.

But apparently including an article with reference to oral sex is much more appropriate.

Isn't that right, pre-teens and children, who visit this site?

Anyway, I want to see Nolan take on the real/comic version of Batman, it would be interesting!

Detective #400
jim-lee-killer-croc-2[1]
Bane
Hush Batman 608 alternative cover

I mean, Batman is the only DC character I like, I've been reading his adventures since 4 yrs old! I loved Batman Begins I liked Law & Order: The Dark Knight, but I want a faith adaptation, not another crime victim's unit movie. I want Batman, the man who dress's up as his fear, to stalk to the fearful, the man who has to overcome great adversaries that can kill him, not Nolan's take on characters that are his equal, Ra's Al Ghul could kill him, Scarecrow could kill him, Joker, maybe, two-face, no, Nolan's "Bane," no.

The Avengers will be a better movie overall, actually it will be better in every way, for me at least. TDKR has a lot of hype because it will be the last of the trilogy and people here are expecting something unexpected and that is, theoretically, an advantage. For me it isn't important because plots always surprise 'cause I can't predict shit!

Im going to enjoy both films i know that but i gotta say if i would have got the chance to make Batman movies i definitely would have made it more comic oriented. Nolan was good with the story aspect but [frick]ed up the world after Begins.

Looking at the banner at the top, most of the posters for Avengers and TDKR suck. The recent Avengers one looks photoshopped and that TDKR one looks like the Inception collapsing building shit with a Batman symbol.

As I've stated on this site before, The Avengers is going to be a big blockbuster comic book film in the traditional sense, TDKR is going to be a big budget Pseudo-comic book film. Me, I like the more pseudo comic book film more, BUT I can see why people would like the more traditional comic book movie look. Also TDKR is probably not going to be the weakest in the trilogy, its just going to be different, just like how TDK and BB were different from each other.

@Mintauro After Green Lantern I have to disagree with that comment. But Smith is right, I cant wait for both films to be honest.
breakUbatman

@ Minotauro

Jonah Hex and Green Lantern would beg to differ on that.

I love what Nolan has done by proving that Super hero movie is not a definitive, rigid genre. We need more diversity in our CBMs

Hopefully the next Fantastic Four movies will be less family adventure and more sci-fi, how I wish they could give it to JJ Abrahams.

Thanks Kevin Smith for helping cool this war down a little. Both movies will make lots of money. I don't think the Avengers will be horrible, I just hope my buddy Joss can tell a compelling and interesting story over the course of its 2.5 hours. As for TDKR... You guys are in for a treat.
