Despite having multiple projects such as AKA Jessica Jones and a Hulk series in the making, Disney's Marvel and ABC Studios are toying with the idea of something rather new. According to the infamous Deadline, the studios are looking to expand cinematic universe on the small screen, with an Avengers-themed series. The site claims:

“I’ve learned that Marvel’s TV division is in conversation with ABC and ABC Studios about doing a drama series in the Avengers world. I hear that the the connection to the Avengers franchise would be light as the project is expected to be set in the universe and feature some of its themes and feel but may not include any characters from Joss Whedon’s blockbuster.”

The site further claims that the untitled project is described as “a kernel of an idea,” in regards to its current stage. And that various concepts are being considered, including a high-concept cop show. And lastly, the studios are currently in search of a new writer. It's not clear what character(s) will feature. What do you think?

Heroes for Hire or The Punisher could be a nice show, maybe even Ms. Marvel?

Heroes for Hire would be so awesome. Would be great for TV too. Kinda have the original formula Angel started out with. Only instead of Angel we get Iron Fist & Luke Cage and maybe a few others.

@ MrCool210 to expand on the cinematic universe. Also I'm sure at some point they could get some cameos or guest appearances by some of the Avengers cast.

A SHIELD show sounds like the best bet, probably following around Agent Clay Quartermain....

A shield show would be ideal. They could use that to introduce any characters they want. Each episode could focus on a different hero that Shield is trying to help out. The possibilities would be endless.

Also, since its a TV show and not a movie, they could even use characters that other studios have the movie rights to.

i'd rather have another hulk movie & a hbo punisher tv show,i don't mind a hulk tv show but i don't want it being crap.

@ SCURVYDOG619; ... Yeah, I kinda thought maybe "Damage Control" too.... Since they deal with the after effects of the battles you might not have to show the main Avengers characters...

Maybe we could look to item 47 for how this might work: regular people living in a world where The Avengers and alien invasions are real things

I want a gosh darn Punisher show on AMC or FX so they could still have all the violence. I am not a huge fan of HBO because they always feel the need to put unneeded nudity and sex in their shows which gets kind of awkward when you watch it with your family. Shows don't need titties in them to have me watch them.

@avengingson:A Damage Control series opens the door to TONS of Marvel cameos, and could establish a 'ground-level view' of a Marvel Universe where ANYTHING could happen..

Damage control would be prefect. They would only refer to the aftermath of the many battles fought in the cinematic universe. Hyping future projects and winning new fans along the way. Kind of like the Fringe with " the event" , being the happenings in the Marvel universe. I think that Short "Item 47" could be the jumping off point. Well we can only hope.

Damage Control or SHIELD.

Maybe Ant-Man. Instead of being a feature length.

Heroes for Hire would be freaking awesome. I can also see them making Runaways into a TV series, and that is a property that has been mentioned to be on Marvel's radar to expand into other media for a few months now.

I have been saying this for about 2 years.

S.H.I.E.L.D the TV show. It would be dope, every week you have some villain that shield agents capture or chase down.
