My Wishes For AVENGERS 2

No matter what, we are in for some serious entertainment. But there are a few things that would be icing on the cake for me. Click on to read what I hope Whedon does!

It took Joss Whedon a little while to sign on for Avengers: Age of Ultron, but when he did, all of us viewers took a unanimous sigh of relief. He has said he's saving Thanos for his third act, and Drew Pearce has hinted at this as well, so for the sake of this article I'm going to assume Whedon will also be on board for Avengers 3. So, on with the show. What does GliderMan want from the Avengers: Age of Ultron?
WAR MACHINE
As Don Cheadle has been confirmed to appear in Avengers 2, I really hope James Rhodes transitions from Iron Patriot back to War Machine. I've been led to believe that the film will show the Avengers largely acting on their own, and if that's true, I'd like Rhodey to be working with the Avengers (or Iron Man, at least), and not on behalf of the government. Besides, we all know him as War Machine anyway.
BIG THOR MOMENTS
In the first Avengers flick, many people thought Hawkeye was put on the back of the shelf. But with Tony Stark all but confirmed to create Ultron (and plus, it's RDJ; he'll have a big role), Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Hulk all having "key roles," and Captain America rumored to have flashbacks and "period pieces" it seems like Thor may be the original Avenger this time around to have the least character development. Understandable, since he probably won't be tied to Ultron in a big way, but how do we make up for this? By having some badass, memorable Thor moments. Examples? Maybe he gets frustrated and blows up on another character in a humorous way. Maybe he's the one who finally wins the battle for the Avengers in the end. Maybe he shouts the classic line: "Ultron, we would have words with thee!" No matter what, we need some cool moments with the Mighty Avenger.
BLACK WIDOW'S DEATH
Joss Whedon has said the film will be more personal, painful, and dark. He said he wants audiences to hurt. When asked what the general philosophy of Avengers 2 will be, he replied: "Death, death, and death." To be fair he also said he must have "a really good reason, a really great sequence" for killing an Avenger, and that they "don't just rule it out across the board, but neither is the mission statement 'Who can we kill?'" The Avengers need something to avenge. As we all know, Phil Coulson (and to a lesser extent, the world) was that catalyst in the first movie. Heroes will be heroes; someone doesn't need to die for them to save the world. But when the theme is "Death, death, and death" we know something major is going to happen. Kevin Feige has said that part of the fun of the Avengers is the rotating aspect. But if Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, the Vision and War Machine all join and nobody leaves by the next film, that's not rotation; that's expansion. While the team certainly got bigger in the comics, it rotated too, and that's what I would love to see. Of course, someone doesn't have to die for the roster to rotate, they could just leave--but bear in mind these are fights where the world is at stake, and the big bad Thanos is likely to be the villain of Avengers 3. Chris Evans said that at some point in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Steve and Natasha share a kiss. Google it and you'll even find a picture of it. In the comics, I believe they shared a romance at one point, and it would definitely make sense in the movies. Some people have theorized that the kiss was just so their cover wouldn't be blown--but it doesn't matter. There's no way they spend all that time together, kiss each other, spending the whole movie building that friendship up... and then things go right back to the way they were. My point here is that Cap and the Black Widow will have formed a bond. The Avengers fought together to end an alien war; so no matter who you kill, it will affect them. But killing Black Widow would bring a special kind of pain to Captain America and Hawkeye, who at this point will both be close to her. It would fit the dark tone of death and loss that Whedon is trying to present, it would allow roster rotation, and would give the team something to avenge. Thanks for reading everybody! I can dig all those points, but I really don't see Joss killing off Widow for some reason. I don't know what it is, maybe because she's the first and only prominent female who the GA has grown to love, but I really don't see it. But I definitely agree there is something there with Cap and Widow's bond, whether it's platonic or not it's still deep. Even Scarlett said they form an intimate friendship...you don't use intimate for just any old association. While also adding that she looks forward to seeing where this wave of closeness they built takes them. It will be interesting indeed and possibilities to all their futures in Joss world is limitless. I'll be waiting.

Keep Widow, kill Hawkeye...just cuz he sucks.

Kill Iron Man too, IMHO it would be best for him to die. In the end he sacrifices himself to stop what he created. Basically personifies everything the character has been through, kill Stark in a deep memorable way and then Rhoadey become the new Iron Man.

No, no, no, no. No to killing off Black Widow. Kill off Hawkeye, or Thor (Thor would come back, of course.) But leave Black Widow alone..

Loki showed he's heartless by killing the most likable (supposedly) character.
Ultron needs to show he's a threat by killing a powerful character. So killing BW or Hawkeye proves nothing, unless it's needed for the rest of the story. If someone dies it's gotta be Thor, Hulk, or even Cap. Or to hit closer to Stark, it could be Rhody!

I have a single wish:

Could Cap please pick up Thor's hammer completely nonchalant like?

Good ideas. Black Widow would make the most sense. I just dont think the character is interesting enough for her own movie. So shes the most expendable. Its not that I dont like her, just that it makes the most sense. Dont keep her alive just cause shes hot. From a story telling point of view, these characters have to develop. Hawkeyes just now getting his chance to shine. The other two films were just an introduction to his character. We dont know anything about him yet.

Captain Americas another option. Since we know.....well....that theres already a replacement lined up. I do want to see him use Mjolnir before he goes though.

Rhodey cant be Iron Man without Tonys help. Rhodey cant fix or upgrade the suits. So Tony has to stick around.

I'm not even saying I want Cap bashing people with it, I just want him to walk over to Thor, handing Mjolnir to him, "I think you dropped this." And he completely doesn't understand why Thor is dumbfounded by this.

Black Widow's Death i want to happen and it must happen.

As for Warmachine it would be great if he showed up for a climactic battle towards the end.

More Thor scenes and Captain America scenes would be greatly appreciated.

Hulkbuster has to have a monumental fight scene.

Easter Eggs to other characters in the MCU eg. Rick Jones, Doctor Strange ect.

Have you read Fear Itself? Cap actually uses Mjolnir. Hes Worthy. Since Chris Evans wont be around that long........why not do it now? It would be funny to see him just pick it up and hand it to Thor.....then run back into battle before a dumbfounded Thor can say anything. He just stands there for a sec staring at Mjolnir. Lol

@Dethpillow. I hear ya on the Thor death....leading to Thor 3 and Hel. Makes sense....except that would be a second Avenger movie in a row that the Avengers think someones dead, then they turn up alive. I dont want that to become an every movie thing. Just my opinion.

Hum, Joss Whedon never said that he was saving Thanos for Avengers 3. He said that Thanos would be the big bad, the last villain but he never said that Avengers 3 would be the last movie and it won't be. Marvel has plans until 2021. That's two phases right there not one so there will be an Avengers 3 in Phase three and it will probably be realised in 2018 and then we'll have Avengers 4 in 2021 ending their current plans. Avengers 4 will be Infinity Gauntlet and Avengers 3 will probably be a cross between Dark Reign, Under Siege, Kang Dynasty, Inhumanity, Siege, Acts of Vengeance, Young Avengers and Civil War.

Alphadog - 3/26/2014, 12:53 AM
The villains will probably be Kang and the Masters of Evil if they're not used in AOU.

they wont kill widow she's the only female hero that people know in marvel at the moment and she's very popular. i think if anyone dies sadly i think it will be war machine, and regarding thor i hope they kill natalie portman if that doesent get thor angry i dont know what will. and i really want to hear the famous lines as well ultron we would have words with thee.
Alpha- that's a lot of stories to cross over, i think avengers 3 will be a cross between infinity and infinity gauntlet.
AC1

Assuming that Vision is JARVIS, what if he's the one that dies? That'd be pretty effective - not only due to his connection with Tony and everyone close to him (Pepper, Rhodey, etc.), but also due to the audience knowing him since the beginning of the MCU. And it could be even more effective if they show him starting to gain emotion, even heading toward the romantic sub-plot with Scarlet Witch. I could imagine him sacrificing himself to destroy Ultron, given their links to each other.

So that's two Avengers affected by Vision's death (Iron Man and Scarlet Witch), plus the others assuming he begins to grow a bond toward them, and it seems like a very 'Joss Whedon' thing to do; taking a character we already like, building that character up, making us really feel for them (especially an android) then killing them off.

charlie- agree 100% we need to see much more from thor, there was a deleted scene in TDW where he seemed to have a good fighting style he drops miljnior cos he's fighting asgardian soldiers and he kicks their asses. but i did like some of the unique action with miljnior in TDW, but they need to show his real power with the hammer and just how strong he is without it.

Why don't you like Hawkeye?
CherryBomb

I don't think Widow will die.
I don't think they'll get rid of the only female Avenger before the introduction of another female potential recruit that could replace her.
Maybe we'll have a Ms Marvel cameo in the film or a supporting role, but it doesn't seem as though they're ready to use Ms Marvel yet.

Is Gwyneth Paltrow announced to be back yet?
If she is, then that could make the chances of Tony dying higher. I can't see them killing Tony without giving the two of them some heartfelt scenes before he bites the dust.

Hawkeye is an obvious choice but also even more likely with the introduction of Falcon, who isn't in the movie I don't think, but if a SHIELD member dies, then it'd be easier to get a SHIELD member to replace him like Falcon and would make more sense.

@ AlphaDog

"Avengers 3 will probably be a cross between Dark Reign, Under Siege, Kang Dynasty, Inhumanity, Siege, Acts of Vengeance, Young Avengers and Civil War."

Thats a whole lot of stories to try and pack in to one film.

I agree though. I almost posted the same thing. I don't think they ever said Thanos will be the villain in Avengers 3. They said he would be saved "for the finale." Like, everything they have been building toward will be end with Thanos as the villain.

If you look at it rationally, I don't see how they can make Thanos the villain in Avengers 3 without starting to rush things. As it is now, they haven't even revealed all of the Infinity Stones yet. They haven't even really explained what they are. Not only that, but we don't even know who Thanos is yet. At least not in the MCU.

I understand that he is said to appear in GotG. How big his role is, will be unknown, but at most I believe they will just talk about him, and he might be shown sending someone after the Infinity Stone that the GotG have, that sphere thing.

At the end of the day, Phase 3 will be largely about Thanos collecting the Stones, at least the background things in all the solo movies. But they are going to have to really start putting him in movies to establish his character if they want him to be the villain of Avengers 3, and I dont' see that happening with Phase 3 being rumored to have so many new solo characters, like Doc Strange and Ant-Man.

Definitely need to give Thor more to do in this film. So sick of him being neutered in the movies. The only scene where Thor felt like the comic book Thor is still the Frost Giant Battle from the first film. Now everything after that has been Thor "bonk, bonk, bonk" with what looks like no force.
AND HAVE HIM FLY MORE! Do you know how much more "godlike" Thor would seem if he flew around and hovered more?

Exactly! The Russos redefined Cap's abilities in CA:TWS, now someone needs to do the same with Thor!

I don't think Hawkeye will die in this movie.

Captain America, Ironman, Thor, Ant Man, The Wasp, Hawkeye, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, The Vision. Those are the essential Avengers. There NEEDS to be at least one Avengers movie with ALL of those characters.
