In an interview from last month, How I Met Your Mother star confirms that there won't be a love interest for Maria Hill in The Avengers, putting an end to any hopes of a hook up between her and Tony Stark as seen in the comics...

While the only major love interest for Maria Hill in the comic books has been a brief hook up with Tony Stark in the pages of Invincible Iron Man, it sounds as if The Avengers most definitely won't be taking a page out of that particular comic book. Of course, there's nothing stopping Marvel Studios taking certain liberties with the source material, so can you think of a member of the team you'd like to see Maria Hill romantically involved with? (Black Widow doesn't count..!)

I was under the impression her role wasn't that big anyway. From what I hear, she never appears off the helicarrier or outside of a SHIELD facility.

Makes sense since Iron Man 2 ended with Him & Pepper. I mean I know Stark isn't exactly a single woman kinda guy but It would be too soon for this match up. Just IMO

I like Cobie Smulders... she's pretty goofy in How I Met Your Mother, but I've never once thought she was even remotely "hot." Or mediocre for that matter -- she's a bit ugly to me.
