Closing of an episode of ABC's Castle TV series, the comedy-drama's star Nathan Fillion, known for frequently collaborating with Marvel's The Avengers helmer Joss Whedon, had quite an amusing banter with that superhero assembly's Iron Man star; Robert Downey Jr. Showcasing what's commonely referred to as a "Whedonverse crossover", promoting both the film and TV series, watch the 30-second promo below!

What's most hilarious, or rather special, about this little banter is that, beyond Robert Downey Jr. respectively portraying Iron Man, Nathan Fillion has been a fan favorite to portray Ant-Man, one of the original Avengers member that didn't make it to the film's roster. However, with the solo Edgar Wright-directed Ant-Man film "closer than ever," do you think this usual crossover promo is related in anyway? Sound off below!

Marvel Studios presents in association with Paramount Pictures “Marvel’s The Avengers”--the super hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel super heroes Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

Starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, & directed by Joss Whedon from a screenplay by Joss Whedon, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since. Prepare yourself for an exciting event movie, packed with action and spectacular special effects, when “Marvel’s The Avengers” assemble on May 4, 2012. The film is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. In addition to "Marvel's The Avengers," Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including "Iron Man 3" on May 3, 2013!; and “Thor 2” on November 15, 2013.

Somebody pinch me.

I love when my worlds collide. Also, damn Downey's a small guy. I mean, comparatively, Fillion's a giant!

And Ant-Man Nathan Fillion speculation post-Avengers in 3..2...1. He said he has not been paticularlyinterested in the character so hopefully maybe since Ant-man has two Ant-mans, they could get him as Pym(past) and someone like Vincent Kartheiser as Scott Lang (present)

That was sweeeet! 2 of my favorites! Now since I'm avoiding spoilers I wonder if Agent Westfield [from Castle]is really making a cameo. He was played by Lyle Lovett and was very SHIELD like. This could be IMDB making shit up again, buuut Andrew W. Marlowe, who created Castle wrote a SHIELD script that was, at one time being seriously considered. So who knows? Anyway Can't wait for this new Castle episode and can't [frick]in' wait for the AVENGERS!!!!

I just cannot imagine any character that Nathan looks like enough that he could play in any superhero movie...

That's awesome. I recently started watching Castle, and I like it, like, a lot. Fillion surely deserves a CBM role; could be Ant-Man, or anyone else. Too bad he's already too old for Hal Jordan, but hey, I believe there are many other roles he can fit in. Great actor. (With that said, I think Stana Katic also deserves a CBM role.)

That was pretty hilarious. I could definitely see him as Hank Pym/Ant-Man.

@Jolt I really liked her in the third Librarian TV movie. Her character was very cool.

She deserves a chance at a CBM role. I just can't think of who she could play right now.

Um, this could be simply Disney is using RDJ to promote one of their ABC shows with a spot with the lead actor. I don't really see a crossover here or any reason to believe from that to think Nathan is Ant-Man or anyone. Just looks like Disney promoting Avengers and Castle, not seeing more.
