Earlier this week, we covered an
interview with Marvel's
The Avengers cinematographer, Seamus McGarvey, where he explicitly revealed there are a couple scenes filmed with an iphone; some of which appeared in the theatrical trailer. With the interview circulating the net, McGarvey and Disney reps are now claiming to
The Hollywood Reporter that he was misquoted.
"I was talking about how up and coming film makers have access to a whole range of new technologies which expand our options as filmmakers. I mentioned that the iPhone and the Canon 5d Mk2 were devices currently used on many Hollywood productions. I used the Canon on some shots on Marvel's The Avengers movie," he stated to THR. "Unfortunately, this was edited to read that I shot some of the film with the iPhone. This is not true."
Disney has confirmed that nothing in the film was shot on an iPhone.
THR also suggests that Disney, as well, confirmed "nothing in the film was shot on an iPhone." What makes McGarvey's claim of being "misquoted" seem fishy, to me, is that in the original interview, he was also quoted saying there were even shots he filmed with an iphone in the trailer. It's hard to imagine being
that misquoted, but that's just my opinion. What do you think?
