Bane WILL "Break The Bat" In THE DARK KNIGHT RISES...Apparently

A very reliable Bleeding Cool source has reportedly confirmed that Batman will indeed have his back broken by Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, but that'll be pretty much all Christopher Nolan takes from the "Knightfall" storyline.

Ever since Bane was announced as the villain in The Dark Knight Rises, speculation that he would "Break the Bat" in Christopher Nolan's third and final Batman movie has run rampant. While several different rumours and set photos have all given us reason to believe that we'd see the iconic comic book scene recreated in the movie, Bleeding Cool now claim to have confirmed this information with a reliable source. Here's an excerpt from their report.

So, we’ve been told – amongst a few other things that we hope to make sense of and share in the near future – that The Dark Knight Rises gives Bane the opportunity to break Batman’s back. And he grabs that opportunity with both hands. So to speak. And I’m guessing he’ll also make use of his knee. Our source cracked wise about the various "rumours" surrounding Bane in the film, expressing some amount of disbelief that people thought the back-breaking might, somehow, not be featured. "Rumour: Joker to smile in new Dark Knight movie."

We did ask, specifically if the film was going to be derived from the Knightfall comics but, as it was pointed out, there’s already a prologue and trailer full of material that doesn’t originate in those strips, so this isn’t an adaptation at all. Seems like Nolan has just magpied the shiniest bit...

Normally, this would be a good time to tell you to take this information with a very large grain of salt, but the site have a good track record when it comes to scoops such as this one. Those of you who follow their comic book coverage will know this for yourselves. Of course, it's highly unlikely we'll know for sure until the movie is released next July, so stay tuned and start getting excited.

STARRING:

Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman
Michael Caine as Alfred
Gary Oldman as Commissioner Jim Gordon
Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox
Tom Hardy as Bane
Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman
Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake

I'd guess that Batman will die symbolically in the movie maybe by Bane breaking his back before Bane is stopped. I also believe that Bruce Wayne will live on no matter how the movie ends.

So.....was it really necessary to put this in the description on the main page rather than just something like "MAJOR SPOILER RELEASED REGARDING TDKR"?

I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but I'm trying to go into this movie as unspoiled as possible. I know I'm not the only one. If any admins see this, it might be prudent to change the article title and description.

can that little bane even pick up batman to try and break him?

I think it was pretty obvious given the shots of Wayne w/ a cane. You can even see a reflection of Wayne w/ the cane in the new trailer.

Well that could explain the 8 years in the movie..time to recover

Judging from the trailer footage, I think Bane breaks Batman's back in the batcave in retaliation for Ra's al Ghul's death soon after the events of The Dark Knight, then it takes Batman 8 years to recover at which point Bane returns with his goons to take over Gotham. That's my theory at least.

It's gonna look funny to see someone so tiny try and break someones back like that...

It was always a safe bet that Bane would "break" Batman in some form in the movie. We've seen images of Bruce with a cane and everything we've heard tells us Bruce is in bad shape before making a triumphant come back.

Regardless of whether or not the odds of it happening were good (which I know they were), I would rather have not known it for sure. My friends and I are having so much fun speculating what's going to happen in this movie.

Well the movie is called "The Dark Knight Rises" & the villain is "Bane" so I think everyone kinda already figured out that would happen, or at least the people who read the comics did.

what a 'surprise'.
was really hoping nolan would veer from the obviousness of that lameness.
so hopefully the back breaking happens in the 1st 3rd of the movie or this is
going to be a 2.5hr adhd flick.

my god bane sux nuts as a character. and for those, nolan included, who say that
Bane is the yin to Bat's yang. Deadshot an assassin who KILLS with guns, is a much better yin.

Ya know, I get that most people on here arent too concerned with spoilers, and I also realize what happens in Knightfall- However, you guys really don't have to spoil everything in the headline. A little discretion would be great, and it wouldn't lessen your readership.

I DOUBT IT!

Up until this point; Nolan has made nods to graphic novel visuals, dialog and Batman mythos. He's NEVER out right copied another writers core event from a book. The breaking of Batman's back is another man's story arch. Nolan doesn't strike me as the type to barrow creativity.

The only way I see this happening is if Nolan has decided to give fans a geekgasm for the last film- and even then it sounds really slim to me. You don't get your back broken then walk around with a cane. You're out for the entire movie lol.

While that sounds cool, I am envisioning Tiny Bane trying to pick the taller and buffer batman up, and in my head it only looks silly and pathetic.

So I'm thinkin the movie is gonna start not to long after the dark knight. There gonna tie up that batman isn't needed now, Bruce leaves gothem meets bane gets broken, is gone for eight years and finally rises up to come back and stop bane when he starts attacking Gotham?
