AMC is preparing a marathon in anticipation of The Dark Knight Rises, with screenings of both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight scheduled. The word now is that the marathon will be screened in the IMAX format, with Batman Begins being converted to the format for the first time. Variety reports:

Batman fans will be able to experience Christopher Nolan's complete Dark Knight trilogy in Imax, as the mega-screen exhib is creating a digital Imax master for the first installment Batman Begins.
Warner Bros. partnered with AMC Theaters to screen the trilogy at a total 296 AMC locations in the U.S., of which 76 now will be in Imax.

"As anticipation for The Dark Knight Rises has risen, our guests have made their voices heard about the kind of experience they expect for this installment of what's become a legendary franchise," said AMC programming prexy Robert Lenihan. "We have been working to ensure we could provide our guests an event that was truly, completely in Imax."

Now remember, Batman Begins was released in 55 IMAX theaters back in 2005, but this time will be the first in Digital IMAX. Select AMC theaters will be playing Batman Begins and The Dark Knight back-to-back on July 19th, leading up to the midnight release of The Dark Knight Rises. And the trilogy marathon will take place at 296 AMC locations, with 76 being in IMAX.
