I have been a devout fan of the bat my entire life, as were you if you are taking the time to read this article. I am sure that we can all agree that Christopher Nolan helped reboot and redifine Batman and get him out of the Campy nipples on the costumes and shizz. They already killed Batman, so Nolan brought him back into our world and he is gonna take him out too.

Batman is a Super hero because he is a bad ass ninja, he has alot of money, a company with a research and development department to exploit, and a grudge against crime and in justice. Nolan made that real. Because it can be real, Batman depends on a duel identity.

If Nolan wants to keep it real, I don't think that Batman will be lying dead on a sidewalk somewhere with a bullet in his head. I think that the image of Bane walking away from the destroyed Cowl, shows us thet the duel identity is going to be over. If everyone knows that Batman is Buce Wayne and they are one in the same, well then, Batman would be dead. No more "Decepetion and Theatricality".

I love Batman, and I respect what Nolan has done in mixing Frank Miller's story and the real gritty Batman, but in keeping it real, Nolan and Crew have class, they will put there story of Batman to rest by revealing who is behind the Mask.

I just think that us die hard fans are gonna have to get ready for the end of the Nolan Batman era. He is saying in the poster "The Legend Ends" he is socializing it early so we can get ready for the end of the best film rendition of Batman.

I find it ironic, that TRUE HISTORY, they were going to make a show called Bruce Wayne, instead of Smallville, and cover Bruce Wayne growing up, instead Warner amd Co. made Batman Begins and Started this trilogy, while giving up the TV show to Superman.

NOw nolan and Smallville are done at the same time. I mean I hope not, let him rest in peace. Once the true identity of Batman is revealed, Batman is Dead, and he will die in 2012.

I WROTE THIS ARTICLE AFTER I READ MY LAST POST< PLEASE READ
I am sure that in my last article, I was not pointed enough, I also didn't think anyone would read what I had to say. I am a Batman Fanatic, not a Comic Book Fanatic, but a true legit Batman Freak.

Batman represents someting that existis in all of us. He holds a special place in our hearts and everyone in the western world at least, has known Batman for over 70 years.

We are raised to accept the limitations that most of us have when it comeone to injustice, and Batman represents someting different that we all wish for. Bruce Wayne is an opportuinist, with a rare obsession with altruism. Bruce wants to see a world where no one would have to experience the hell that he went through.

I have been playing Arkham City and watching year one, Batman Begins and the Dark Knight over and over again. Batman is not an executioner, and does everything he does with only his detective ability and some cool gadgets that have defined Batman, even back in the 60's he always had some sort of Bat dcevice that saved the day.

Thats what I love about Batman, to me he represents something that is in all of us, we just don't have the resources to be able to become Batman, but any of us could become a Batman, with the proper funding and training.

Nolan and his team came in and gave us, for the first time, a batman based in reality. He has the gadgets, but all of them were real and could be obtainined with the right amount of money. I saw a documentary about "Batman Tech" on the History Chanel, it was great, it showed everything, all the way down to summoning bats to come save your ass.

They are going to Reboot Batman, we all know that, and as a fan, I would be upset if they didn't. I hope it's not a TV show, and would like to see someone else tell their Batman Story, not stand on the shoulders of Nolans genius and disapoint all of us.

Super hero movies are like story arks in the comics, and each director gets to tell their version of the Batman Story. I would think that revealing that Bruce Wayne is Batman in the Dark Knight Rises is a classy way to insure that no one will attempt to ride on the coat tails of this briliant adaptation of my favorite character.

I am not a Batman hater, I love Batman, and can't wait to take my son to the Batman arena show whenever it comes to Seattle. I say that to say if you are going to do a real world Batman and you want to end your story, the best way to do it is to simply reveal the identity of Batman.

He can still 'Rise' because the Batman stands for something more then the man behind the mask, because besides, it's not who is is underneath thats is important anyway, but what he does that defines him anyway, and he could "Rise" in the form of Gotham standing up for their city and doing whats right.

From what I can gather from what OIldman is saying, they already made it 8 years without Batman.

I mean if there was peace in Gotham, and Gotham "No Longer Needed Batman" and Batman saves Gotham and ushes in this era of peace in Gotham, then I also do not think that Bruce would go to jail.

I would say that the way that you kill Batman and still allow him to rise as a legend, making him more than just a man, and show how Batman inspired Gotham to devote itself as a community to an ideal than batman rises as something else entirely.

I think this would also put a good closure to the series. I also think that it would put whatever director gets the honor to recreate their own Batman, instead of pick up where Nolan and Team left off.

I hope this sounds like I feel, I love Batman!! I think he is an important part of who we are as a country, at the least he is an important part of who I am as a person. And I think that it would be classy to end Nolan amd Bale's Batman by removing the mask and letting Bruce Wayne live his life in the peacefull Gotham. A Gotham that knows it is safe. Let the world know who he is and liberate him. I think that is a Good ending for Bruce too.

Bruce would finaly be able to drop the playboy front and let the world know who he is. I repeat, Batman Dies and the Dark Knight Rises because Gotham realizes it is safe, and Brice is still there, ready to protect his city.

I might be very wrong, I just think that it is sad tha Nolan, Bale, Freeman, Cain and Oldman are not going to be involved in Batman after this and it feels like a part of Batman is dieing already and it is sad, and it feels like a part of me is dieing with it. So lets make sure that those guys, Batman/Bruce, Mr. Fox, Alfred, and Gordon, live a safe and happy life. Let the Dark Knight Rise by fullfilling it's purpose, protect gotham and create a safe Gotham where criminals who have the good people scared are gone, and the people of Gotham have gained the will to act.

Maybe we are too immature an audience to understand how this would be a classy ending to an epic trilogy. I mean Neo died.... and so did
Trinity, and they really died. I think that at lease Bruce, at least part of the Batman character gets to stay alive. I think that you can "Kill" Batman by simply removing the mask.

Nolan is not going to kill Batman off. I don't think any director no matter who they are have the balls to kill off Batman.

I know WB loves Nolan but it is no way in hell they let kill Batman off. That kind of defeats the purpose of the title of the movie. A hero rise but only to meet his demise? Besides in a recent interview Gary Oldman stated that WB could continue with a fourth and fifth movie. And this whole passing on the mantle to Joseph Gordon Levitt sounds uncanny. He has no training like Bruce Wayne nor the resources. Then again I could be wrong. But Batman being killed off I just cant see happening.

if anybody kills Batman/Bruce for real, it has to be Gordon, the police have to hunt down Batman, and when Gordon gets his hands on bats, and bats is about to go to far, Gordon will have no choice, he won't be proud but he will be praised

Uhhmmm the pilot for Smallville premiered in 2001, LONG before Batman Begins was even thought of. And what difference does it make? They released Superman the following year.

I am not a film maker, I am a fan, I would think that there is so much focus on completion, I know they say that he rises, but maybe thats because it is revealed that Batman is Bruce Wayne and that Batman is "Truley elemental, a symbol" He falls, people find out who he is and gets his back broke or whatever the Genius Nolan and Friends create for us, and the The Dark Knight Rises by people realizing that Batman stands for more than just the whims of a terrorist, or that batman stands for more that just the man behing the Cowl. Think about it, do you really want Nolan to leave his Gotham open for anyone to take over? I was refrencing Smallville, because I hope they don't do Batman on TV.

i hope nolan kills him off, so no other director can [frick] up his work.

I think that we tend to read a little to much into many of these images, whether they are set photos or teaser posters. Take the the most recent teaser poster for example. The image of the broken bat cowl - Many seem to be jumping to the conclusion that this hints at the idea that batman will be killed or that his identity will be revealed. I would suggest that this image is less literal in regards to Batman's fate and more symbolic of Bane's brutality in destroying everything Batman has worked to rebuild in Gotham. Here's another way of thinking about it - If it turns out to be true that Batman is killed in the movie, in hindsight this image of the broken bat cowl would no longer serve any other purpose in this teaser poster other than to remind us that "oh yeah, Bane killed Batman in the movie". The imagery would lose all it's metaphorical dignity and become painfully literal to the point of absurdity... Maybe I'm the one reading into this too much, haha.
BatmanDies2012
BatmanDies2012 - 12/12/2011, 12:19 AM
No, Loud Noises, I think that we are both thinking about the same thing. Bane detroyts everytthing that Batman has worked for and then destroys Batman by showing everyone who he really is, and then The Dark Knight Rises, by showing everyone it's not who he is underneath, but what he does that defines him

I think Batman may be killed off. But the persona only. I think Batman stands for more than just a person. He is a symbol that signals hope. I think the 'rises' alludes to the people of Gotham rising up and taking their city back. The only way Batman can survive is for the mantle to be passed on...like what Bruce wanted with Dent in TDK and what, possibly, John Blake can do this time around.

Can't kill Batman off or reveal his identity....would piss off the majority of the fans and kill the golden goose. They'll give him a rest and resurrect him a few years down the line. I am HUGELY thankful they made Smallville instead of a Young Indiana Jones/Bruce Wayne type of thing. Much more interesting to see a young Clark Kent growing up with "powers and abilities, far beyond those of mortal men," then a kid who's life doesn't get really dicey and interesting till he BECOMES the Bat. Be funny if it's really Superman in the Bat-suit when it comes to kickin' Bane's ass. Anyone remember the Superman/Batman animated episode when Bruce Wayne disappears and Robin goes to Metropolis lookin' for help from Superman? Good one...

I'm pretty sure Bane dies before the Talia/HEMTT vs Batpod/Batwing chase.

On set, he didn't come out of City Hall after his fight with Bats during the riot.

We could get an epilogue with Wayne as an old man... if he does survive.

But if I had to bet on how TDKR will end, I'd bet on Batman dying.

TDKR's opening scene hints at the ending:
GORDON - "I knew Harvey Dent. I was his friend. And it will be a very long time before someone inspires us the way that he did. I believed in Harvey Dent."

Gotham will change when they learn that a billionaire sacrificed it all for them.

I genuinely think the whole "rises" part of the title refers to the fact that for 8 years gotham has managed without batman but when forces they cannot defeat on their own surface, they need to call on the thing they are afraid of - the vigilante, high powered techno nut, Batman - to defeat the threat they face. However, while Gotham cries out for their hero, Bruce has got on with life, or at least he thinks he has, gotten over the death of rachel, the loss of Dent, the sacrifices made, then he will realise that Bruce Wayne is the costume and that Batman IS him. He will realise that the symbol he is is not the hero that Gotham Deserves -( which was the unmasked heroism of Dent) but rather he is the one they NEED.

I'm guessing in this movie, Batman will be scared of Bane- either in terms of what Bane is or that Batman will doubt his ability to beat Bane and after a chat with gordon or alfred he will soul search, realise he is the batman, and head out to meet the challenge like a warrior.
