Bryan Cranston Addresses Rumors That He'll Play 'Lex Luthor' In BATMAN/SUPERMAN

After a series of reports from an incredibly unreliable source that somehow spread across the internet to sites like 'Rolling Stone' and 'E! News', Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston laughs off those rumours and scoffs at claims that he's signed a six picture deal. Check it out!

Anyone with even the tiniest bit of common sense knows that Cosmic Book News is a joke of a website, well-known for starting false rumours. Unfortunately, that didn't include a number of far more reliable sites who would embarrassingly pick up on their story that Bryan Cranston had been cast as 'Lex Luthor' by Warner Bros. for 2015's Batman/Superman movie. Talking to The Boston Globe recently, the Argo and Drive star had this to say about those reports. "I’ve heard that too. Six? This is all news to me. I think that maybe my name is bandied about because I’m known to be bald. ‘What bald guy can we get?’ The reality is they can take any actor and shave his head or put a bald cap on him." However, when asked whether he would turn to Gene Hackman for advice if he were to get the role, the actor laughed and said, "I can just see how that phone call would go. ‘Gene? Hi, this is Bryan Cranston.’ ‘Who? Bryan Cranston? What do you want? How did you get this number?’ " Finally, he added that his schedule is now pretty much free for the rest of the year, and while there are some projects are on the horizon, nothing is set in stone as of yet. Whether that includes Batman/Superman is unknown, but for now, it appears as if he isn't Lex Luthor. "I think I’ll relax the rest of the year. There’s some irons in the fire, things that people are talking about, but nothing is set." Stay tuned to CBM for updates!

But in all seriousness what actor do you all want to see play Lex???

Who do "YOU" have in mind for the role? Will they get another unknown like Cavill or will they cast someone we're all familiar with.

Too old for Lex, Cranston should b Gordon (ideally) or Hugo Strange, Johnny Lee Miller or Michael C. Hall should be Lex

I do agree he is a bit old for the Lex I ha in mind. But who is to say that he wont bulk up for the role? He can still be a believable physical adversary with the right amount of time and training.... and kryptonite

Here's a wild pick for Lex so hear me out:

Ron Perlman.

Charlie, were Gary Oldman's talents wasted on Gordon?
thewonderer

And Matthew McConaughey would own Lex

Ryan Gosling nearly agreed to do Batman but didn't want to play him multpile times.

No matter your feelings on Batfleck Jedi, think it's fair to say that Affleck is a better pick than Ryan.

Wouldn't you agree?

‘What bald guy can we get?’ The reality is they can take any actor and shave his head or put a bald cap on him."

This is exactly what I felt when the fans were clamoring for Patrick Stewart as Professor X. Of course he's a great actor as well, but casting because he has the right hair, or lack of, is stupid.

Cranston would be a little too old for Lex and, like most fans, I think he'd be great as Commissioner Gordon.

Think Lex needs to be someone a little younger looking than Cranston, not quite sure who, maybe Michael C. Hall or maybe even Billy Zane? Zane certainly looks like a good Lex Luthor!

John Goodman for Bullock.

Bryan Cranston is an incredible actor. He is not my ideal pick for Lex Luthor though.

I would like to see a younger actor play Lex on the big screen for once.

Superman in MOS is 33. I want Lex Luthor to be about 36-38 in World's Finest.

@thewonderer I would prefer Lex to keep his shirt on for the duration of the movie. :P

how bout leo DiCaprio for Lex?

For some reason, I think Patrick Stewart would be perfect for Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight Returns. It's not because Harvey is bald in the book, it's because well for me Patrick looks exactly like Harvey facial wise in the book.

HugoStrange87 - 9/1/2013, 8:09 AM
He's just too old. And please no more Cumberbatch suggestions anymore. This is another wild card pick.

Willis is my pick for the kind of Luthor I want from the animated series. He played a Lex type character in Perfect Stranger and didn't see any of the usual Willis in that character and he seemed to enjoy it. Willis just have that suave that the Lex from the animated series had that we all wanted to hate but we just loved. That's what they need to nail with that character.

Cranston will be a great choice not because he is bald but because when he wants to be menacing and evil, he nails it every time and then go back to the regular Walt like he's been doing it for a decade.

Dont want Strong because he is already perfect as Sinestro to a tee.

Fanboys are so unrealistically hilarious with their casting shenanigans. Im beginning to enjoy watching studios crush their hopes and dreams. I just like watching the chaos that happens after.

I'm telling you, if it's Michael C Hall as Lex, and Bryan Cranston as Hugo Strange for the villians, I'd shit a brick. Would be the tits.
