Christian Bale Talks About Bringing Batman Into The Light In THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Christian Bale shares his thoughts on Batman being featured in daylight scenes in The Dark Knight Rises, as well as the epic Wall Street battle, working with Tom Hardy and never taking off the cowl.

Talking to Empire Magazine, Christian Bale has commented on what it was like to bring the Caped Crusader out of the shadows and into the light in The Dark Knight Rises. "It was very strange to start with. We had the idea of intimidation and the mystery being successful in the dark. And so it did feel odd to be outside quite so much. But obviously I got used to that. We kinda mad a deal right when we first made Batman Begins; me and Chris said, 'Let's just not let people see Batman half-dressed. It's just not a good idea.' Batman should be Batman and that's it. He should always be defined and complete and let's not ruin that experience for people."

"With a crowd that big you can't really control it completely," he said when talk turned to the epic battle which sees Batman and the GCPD facing off against Bane and his band of mercenaries on the streets of Gotham. "It's impossible. Shit's gonna happen. So I see there's a wall of guys right there. They're not meant to be there. Because I'm about to throw this guys there, you know? And I had to kinda go, 'Do I? Don't I? Alright they're up for it...' I went back and checked on them afterwards and they were all fine. But those are kinda happy accidents which you can't fake because there really was a guy flying through the air who knocked them all down!"

As for his co-star Tom Hardy, Bale once again had nothing buy good things to say about the man behind the villain who might just "Break the Bat" in the upcoming threequel. "Tom is phenomenal. He's an extraordinary actor. I I were a director I would want Tom to be in my movies. He knows his shit. But it's a funny distance that you have in these movies, literally, by being cocooned by a cowl. I don't truly feel like I've worked with Gary Oldman, even though we've done three movies together. I don't really feel like I've worked with Gary because I'm here in this darkness ever time. And likewise with Tom, we're both behind these masks. He's feeling that isolation as well. It's a strange feeling. So we agreed after this we'd like to work with each other on something one day!"

Be sure to pick up that latest issue of Empire Magazine to hear much more from Bale on The Dark Knight Rises.

Tom Hardy is a phenomenal actor and people who keep doubting his portrayal of Bane need to watch Bronson ans Warriror.

The problem I have with Hardy isn't his acting chops. It's the fact he is shorter than Batman, for me anyways. Should have cast him as another Bat-rogue that better suits his physique.

Would love to see a film with both B and H in (without masks) as they're are in my top ten for fav actors.

@tea "He'll be the white knight at the end...being a public figure rather a vigilante :)" or because Bane just shot his load over him. There's the follow up "Broke Bat Mountain"

@Brainiac3000- I do not think so, you can see Batman and Bane grappling, and when they first lock up, Bale is looking down at Hardy. If I am singing a different tune after I see it, cool. But right now it looks like some bad decisions have been made regarding the casting of Hardy for Bane and Hathoway for Catwoman, or the bad decisions were to include Bane and Catwoman as the villians. I'll find out if I am wrong or right in a few weeks now.

@TheAmazingHipsterMan you're one of the biggest trolls on this site.

You trash every thread related to TDKR with the same dribbling comments.

Agreed you're not as bad as MarkandJoanna, but you're not far off.

This whole thing about opinions is nonsense when your basing your opinion on what??? Five minutes worth of footage.

You were the one who said the 3rd trailer was just a bunch of stares in another thread???

I called you out on that one, as you choose to ignore all the action sequences that took place.

So yeah you are a troll, now go back beneath your brige.

@Hipster You think Batman Begins is better than Iron Man and THOR? Interesting.

I never really thought about it much but in some ways, Batman Begins and Iron Man feel similar. Maybe it's the tone of the origin.

THOR is the shit tho. Complete Hemsworth THOR fanboy. Although I'm hoping for less Loki this time.

Bale sounds very enthusiastic every time he's interviewed about TDKR. He seems genuine about it, he's been this way for all three films. It's good to see that he has enjoyed being Batman.

I was looking at Batman Begins last night and it seems to me that The Dark Knignt Rises has that same feels and look that the first movie had....I don't know maybe because The Dark Knight was so dark but it feels like they in a way going back to the first color scheme

@NeoBaggins

Thats because Faverau (and Shane Black who aided him) were heavily inspired by Batman Begins. The first script for Iornman had the Mandarin and the tone was less serious.

@IgnurRant that's interesting to know, just like when I heard that HL based his Joker on Tom Waits. The 1979 interview was just freaky.
