The Dark Knight directed and co-written by Christopher Nolan. Based on the DC Comics character Batman, the film is part of Nolan's Batman film series and a sequel to 2005's Batman Begins. The film follows Bruce Wayne/Batman, District Attorney Harvey Dent, Assistant D.A. Rachel Dawes, and Police Commissioner James Gordon and their struggles and journey in combating the new rising threat of a criminal calling himself the Joker. Nolan's inspiration for the film was the Joker's comic book debut in 1940, and the 1996 series The Long Halloween, which retold Two-Face's origin.

i preffered watchmen to the dark knight, the dark knight is overrated.

but it won't win this because all the batty-boys will vote for batman.

I like both of them equally

@marvel72 just because someone votes for the dark knight it doesn't make them a "batty boy"

Both movie are great and some of my favorite films but I gotta go with The Dark Knight. It has better performances especially Ledger and Eckhart. The only performance in Watchem that was great was JAckie Earl Haley as Rorschach and maybe Billy Crudup as Dr Manhattan the others were forgettable.

The Dark Knight for the win.

batman is my second favorite character ever after dick grayson and i have to say The Dark Knight is THE MOST OVERRATED MOVIE EVER MADE!!!!!!!!!!! if ledger never died it wouldve been seen as anothjer mediocre cbm and its not even the best movie in its series of movies batman begins is much much better....the watchmen on the other hand is in my opinion the best cbm eva made when it comes to loyalty to the comic and writing and direction and even acting

Both movies have their ups and downs. But attacking The Dark Knight and saying it will only win this poll because of the batty boys seems like making an excuse just in case your team loses so that you can be right about something. Its called opinions and everyone has their own. There is no factual statement that proves which is better. Avatar made so much money, but tons of people saw it more than once and basically made it seem like a lot more people went and saw. And for those who didn't like it, its not like they can ask for their money back and tell them not to calculate it into their gross revenue. Plus even if the votes goes a certain direction, that's based on the people who knew about the poll and took the time to vote. At the end of the day, they are both good movies. In some people's mind one is great, the other okay, but neither were bad.
-Joker making the pencil disappear and when he was in a nurse outfit walking outside the hospital as it explodes made me laugh and was just awesome. That will always be retained in my memory.
-Rorschach killed because in his eyes their is only right and wrong, no middle. That was beautiful to me and I felt not enough people understood why. Once again, something forever remembered.

@ rocketico

its exactly the same when anything features batman,do ya remember the vs polls.

it didn't matter who he went up against batman vs spidey....batman wins.

batman vs superman..........batman wins.

batman vs galactus........batman wins.

some people don't think before they vote.

I like the visuals in Watchmen out of all the CBM's so far its def what I want to see in a comic book movie. In TDK Nolan didn't really capture the moments visually like I had hoped.

so let me see if i have this straight: if Batman wins it's not because hes a great caracter, has had two great movies in this decade, or even because he's one of the most iconic characters of all time. It's because of the "batty boys" but if anything else wins it's not because of their fans its because they just won right? [frick] you morons that think that way. Both movies are great, but The Dark Knight had Ledger, Oldman, and Eckhart in phenominal performances.

So what is this poll - which one sucks more? Tough question. They're both abysmal.

@marvel72 - you have a very valid point in the case of polls. Batman's background kind of makes it so in most polls he wins the fight. Batman can't beat everyone in DC or Marvel, but is kind of presented that he would have a way to stop or slow them down. But that same is set up for Superman, if he wanted he could snap almost everyone's neck in a second. In my opinion, most of the polls don't make sense, seeing how its hero vs hero.
But for this movie poll, its slightly (very slightly different). I will say TDK is most likely to take it for several reasons - Bigger fan following, Box Office results, Ledger and most people didn't quite understand Watchmen.
We live in a society where we complain about the length of a movie, regardless of quality, so to them Watchmen was too long. Most people didn't see why Rorschach died, I heard the word "stupid" far too many times. The complaint about the blue penis. And the whole concept of the planet only coming together out of fear of a greater threat went way over so many head (I summarized, but please see the point).
They both have a lot to offer and people should take into consideration Watchmen sold its self for the most part. Well Batman is on everything from fruit roll ups to clothing.

Both amazing films, but definitely The Dark Knight for me.

Both movies are great, and I very much enjoy what Nolan is doing with Batman, especially The Dark Knight. However I think that The Watchmen was better but only because Zak Snyder followed the source material so closely, the second the Collectors Edition came out I went out and got it and I do understand why they took the Tales Of The Black Freighter out of the final cut (it kinda slowed down the story, not to mention how much time it added to the movie) but it is truly Epic and Brilliant. The Dark Knight was fantastic but it just can't compare (in my eyes) to the awesome performances and just the overall amazing story of The Watchmen.

WATCHMEN is the best CBM of all time. The Dark Knight was great too.

They are about equal for me. I agree with StrangerX that the visuals in Watchmen is how I imagine CBMs. The only reason why I lean toward to TDK more is that Malin Akerman and Matthew Goode weren't as great as their peer actors and it shows when you have people as Jakie Earle Haley, Billy Cudop, Jefferey Dean Morgan, and Patrick wilson fully embodying their characters to a T.
But all I can say that looking at these two films makes me impatient for Man of Steel. With Snyder's visuals just a bit more grounded this time and Nolan & co's story with its awesome cast, it will be groundbreaking
