KICK-ASS Star Nicolas Cage Thinks He'd Be A Great Choice To Take On The Role Of The Joker

Comic book fan and CBM veteran Nicolas Cage has revealed in a new interview that should he ever return to the genre, he'd like to take on the role of DC's most famous villain: The Joker. Check it out...

For better or for worse Nicolas Cage has found himself at the center of many comic book properties. A huge fan of the medium himself, the Academy Award-winning actor has appeared as Marvel's Johnny Blaze in two separate Ghost Rider films, played Mark Millar's vigilante Big Daddy in 2010's Kick-Ass and of course, he was infamously once set to play Superman in Tim Burton's Superman Lives.

While speaking to JoBloCage was asked whether there were any other comic book characters that he'd like to portray on film and while the Con Air star admitted that his superhero film days are behind him, he did reveal that there are a couple of characters he thinks he'd be good for:

"I mean, I think my comic book days are kind of...I'm on to other things. But I always thought I'd make a great Joker and I always thought that I would've been a good villain in one of the Marvel movies like Doctor Doom. But, Doctor Doom you have to wear that mast, but I thought the story leading up to Doctor Doom could've been interesting. At this point, if I was to go back into the format it would probably have to be a villain."

Interestingly enough, both roles might soon become available for the actor to pursue. As Legion creator is still at work on his solo Doctor Doom film over at FOX and while Jared Leto has the role of the Clown Prince of Crime in the DCEU, Todd Phillips' Joker origin film has yet to confirm a lead (though The Master actor Joaquin Phoenix is heavily rumored).

What do you think? Could you see Nicolas Cage as either Doom or The Joker? Which actor would you like to see take those roles? And what comic book part would you like Cage to take on? Leave your thoughts below.

If you are going Old Batman then you need Old Joker and that means you need Willem Defoe to play Joker.

If you are going younger Batman and you want him to grow in the franchise then you need a younger Joker and that means just rebrand the clown and turn Bill Skarsgard into The Joker.

Nope! My choice is Glenn Howerton who plays Dennis on Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia!!!! He would make a perfect classic comic accurate Joker.

@AnthonyVonGeek - oh shit, yes, wow can’t believe I didn’t think of that. He kind of plays the same character on AP Bio, but it’s more Howerton so it’s acceptabel tv. Yea hed rock as Joker, but he’s have to expand a bit, he’s got the role he wants to play locked down, the Joker has to get serious too. And yes I’ve seen his range as serious as he can be on both shows , been a fan since day one, but I can’t recall a time where he seriously dropped the stick. He’d really have to be able to be real at least for a couple of scenes, if he could do that, his default as is would be a great Joker.

If he can still act as he did in Bad Lieutenant then go ahead and let go Leto ASAP

I would love to see Cage do some villain work, it would be interesting. I know Marvel doesn't want to go back to some of the villains used before for Spider-Man but I think he would be interesting opposite Tom Holland, maybe as Mysterio? I can see that be at least an interesting choice. I still want to see a true Green Goblin, Willem Dafoe was great but his costume was bleh, I could see Cage pulling off a good Norman Osborn, but I still would love to see Hugh Jackman as Norman Osborn because I haven't seen a lot of Hugh as a villain who wasn't a fun over the top villain.

Depends on the Nicholas Cage that shows up, but could he be any worse than Let's version?
I'd love to see him play an eccentric villain though. Mad Hatter perhaps? Riddler?
