For better or for worse Nicolas Cage has found himself at the center of many comic book properties. A huge fan of the medium himself, the Academy Award-winning actor has appeared as Marvel's Johnny Blaze in two separate Ghost Rider films, played Mark Millar's vigilante Big Daddy in 2010's
Kick-Ass and of course, he was infamously once set to play Superman in Tim Burton's
Superman Lives.
While speaking to
JoBlo, Cage was asked whether there were any other comic book characters that he'd like to portray on film and while the
Con Air star admitted that his superhero film days are behind him, he did reveal that there are a couple of characters he thinks he'd be good for:
"I mean, I think my comic book days are kind of...I'm on to other things. But I always thought I'd make a great Joker and I always thought that I would've been a good villain in one of the Marvel movies like Doctor Doom. But, Doctor Doom you have to wear that mast, but I thought the story leading up to Doctor Doom could've been interesting. At this point, if I was to go back into the format it would probably have to be a villain."
Interestingly enough, both roles might soon become available for the actor to pursue. As Legion creator is still at work on his solo Doctor Doom film over at FOX and while Jared Leto has the role of the Clown Prince of Crime in the DCEU, Todd Phillips' Joker origin film has yet to confirm a lead (though The Master actor Joaquin Phoenix is heavily rumored).
What do you think? Could you see Nicolas Cage as either Doom or The Joker? Which actor would you like to see take those roles? And what comic book part would you like Cage to take on? Leave your thoughts below.
